Priority mains.. Oil pressure is pegged. standard volume high pressure. Im thinking of dropping the new low volume pump in.
Ill see where power starts to drop and set limiter 300rpm higher

dry sump set up is expensive as hell too.
I would definitely say you need it at 8000rpm.

Maybe im being a bit cautious then. 1st solid roller v8 ive had, used to the hyd going 6800rpm.
Im not going to rev it for the sake of it and it spins up easy as it is.
I just took my daughters friend for a squirt and had wheel spin 1st ,2nd,3rd and into 4th with 7000rpm shifts

Typically you want to shift far enough past peak so you drop back into peak power. If you shift at peak power you'll fall back into an rpm range where it will slow you down.

Priority mains on my dart and turn 7900 almost every drive, wet sump and good oil pressure when done. Peak is 7600 ish so I go higher to not fall so low

Even on my current heap of sh*t cam-only 346 I found it will et quicker on my gtech every time when I shift at 7400-7500 rpm than if I shift at a lower rpm. And the cam isn't even that large. Limiter set to 8k so I never hit it by mistake but I have hit 8k a few times. I've spent almost nothing on that engine so I don't care.

Back in the early days of LS's a lot of us were too afraid to rpm even just cammed or head/cammed sbe cars too high because the cars and engines were new to us and expensive to replace back then. Now we realize we can spin junkyard stuff to 8k because the engine didn't cost much so we tested the waters.

If you're not drag racing or trying to achieve the best 1/4 mile ET, and have more HP than you need or your car can put to the ground, then it's not worth spinning so high past peak power unless just for the fun factor. Not worth it for the OP's build, as I imagine his mid range power/torque alone would overtake most cars on the road like they're parked still.

My comment was really for racing. Power past peak is an often untapped gold mine at the track. Street driving, 8k gets you noticed from a mile away

Yeah I guess I wasn't being clear either. I didn't mean you have to shift like that all the time. That's more for racing. But if you're ever going to race or just beat the crap out of the car I'd set my limiter quite a bit past peak. It's just a safety. If you money shift it's not going to help anyway lol

Ok Limiter is set at 8000rpm
Was pulled over by the cops yesterday. To low and said my new tyres arn't legal. Argued with him but he wouldnt budge. So now need raise height and new tyres for road worthy certificate
Driving home was just bout home and sprung a leak from oil cooler somewhere, oil temps fine , pressure fine, just a line of oil about a kilometre long... Other than that 300miles and didnt miss a beat...

When you got pulled over did the cop question your exhaust noise?
What was illegal about your tyres?
That oil leak would **** me off.

They let you off with the exhaust?
That's awesome.
They are pretty strict with the ride height though.
When my vz was checked years ago it was just on legal.
I wonder if they checked the load rating of the tyre too.
Was the oil cooler faulty?

I have been looking at fitting those mufflers too.
There will come a day when I will get checked.
Do you know if those varax mufflers are also compatible with the vt-vz chassis?
