So do the 10 degree heads work on factory or even shelf pistons. I'm hearing the valve location requires custom pistons.

Used on a Factory Ls7.. with the Thread Here by JR of FED?

Cam timing and Higher Lifts may need a FED 10 degree off the shelf Piston...

The FED 10 degree F710's require a custom piston in many applications. Valve centers are moved. At a MINIMUM, I would check radial clearances using off the shelf pistons, but many piston suppliers have engineering specs that differ from std. LS7 piston pockets. Valve angle is normally not the problem.

The internet is a great info resource, but you can't beat real world, hands-on experience.
Domes change the game vs. a SBE short block.

Guy asks about Special Pistons...Which it doesn't need unless your Milling and going with a Larger cam...Also if the Cam Timing events are known. Fly cutting can be done.

Domes don't Change Nothing...cut the space if Needed on Either side, they sell a Piston for that head. Hands on... LMAO. Custom + 12 Dome tops do the same thing.

intake & Exhaust needs x amount of Clearance with Valve drop being Factored in... Clay on Pistons with a spin to see how much clearance We've got. Good Math will be good with Actual measured Spec's also and should be Close to what's Seen with the Clay on Piston Physical See it Method.

Hands on LMAO...don't need to touch Something to Know something. I could put my own engine together...I don't want or need the tools.... I'll pay.

Carrillo sells a On the Shelf + 10cc Dome top For a Ls3 "15" degree head. At 62 cc gives you 14.7 compression

It'll also work With a Ls7 head @ "12" degrees with + . 800 lift ...We know the Free Drop, Cam Events and Valve Clearance needed and how Much material is in the Dome...Ls7 head has the same 62cc Chamber

We can do it your way to Verify, the Math. Then cut it.
🤫

I know a little something guy's.

Working the manifold now, needs more CSA in the runners/throat area and I am also swapping the camshaft for something larger to raise the peak. Still going to be lift limited with the 1238X springs and 1.800" installed height.

Manley 221422-16 spring an option? Less coil bind and more lbs. could go slightly more installed height. Not much more, but when you are limited all of it helps

PSI 1581 ML springs and +.050" retainers, and you got .850" lift. That should do it.
