Concerning alternative intakes for late model cars, how much taller than the stock L76 could be tolerated? I suppose this is probably a better new thread question, but nontheless, it is a very serious, and very relevant one. I am guessing that the hardest fitment would be the Corvettes, but how tight is it on a Camaro/Firebird, GTO, or CTS-V?

Muchos grac'.

Someone really needs to come out with a cost effective street manifold that will keep up with the setup.

Ed and I are talking about another cam option this morning and we'll see what develops.

I totally agree that someone needs to come out with a kick azz new manifold to replace the fast 90 for those set-up that are not compatible with running a LS7 intake! These intake manifolds are killing the true potential of these FANTASTIC big cubed LS series super stroker motors (and it will be interesting what they come up with for the new monster LSX motor build ups in the next months to come!

Oh yeah, i forget to mention you have a great set-up for a mild mannered street car making some NICE POWER!

I've been getting a lot of PM's asking questions about my build so I thought I'd bring this back up. There is a ton of information here and some amusing BS.

A couple of points:

1. RAM DD clutch is great
2. Tip in is just incredible
3. I can cruise at 1k if I want to and drive off with no problems at all
4. 3.90's seem to be a perfect gear for this setup and my driving
5. Still playing with the PCV setup but not sucking any oil into the intake. I just want to clean it up a little.
6. Added CCW Big Street Classics to the car
7. Installing a DD Kenwood 7100 DD, JL sub, total of 3 amps 1000w

BTW: The car is running great - it uses no oil - doesn't smoke - and remains a blast to drive. I've taken a couple 400 mile trips and commute 35 mile each way in DC rush hour without a second thought. I did fry the torque tube bushings which doesn't surprise me at all. Ed replaced those last week.

Thanks Steve - aka Y2k_TA - for finding this post.

Tore up the torque tube bushings. Corvette owners take note.

I opted not to got to the LGM aluminum bushings since I don't track the car and like the idea of a little cushion to reduce ****** on the gears.

Replaced them with BMW bushings.

I thought you had to replace the entire coupling shaft because GM doesn't sell the rubber couplings separately. Nice to know about the Bimmer bushings.

If not for the BMW bushings or going aluminum you would have to replace the entire torque tube. $$$$. It's funny the GM and BMW are both made in Germany. Probably the same manufacturer.

Default cam

I just read this whole thread, and I got lost into about page 14.

Were you ever able to post the specs on the cam, or is it hush hush still. I don't remember seeing them.

Looks very close to what I'm looking for, I don't want to spin my motor above 6500rpms anyway, possibly 6250rpms.

Thanks

Moss

Moss,

The cam I'm running now is a 234-240 112 +0 XE-R lobe. I set my rev limiter at 6800. It will bounce off that pretty quick if I don't pay attention.
