Strange Engineering S60 (Dana 60 rearend)
Would one of the sponsers please start a group purchase on Strange Engineering's S60 rearend (Dana 60).
Its stronger than the 12-bolt and 9".
Only a few pounds heavier than the 12-bolt.
Comes standerd with 35-spline axles and Tru-Trac.
Has a better pinion angle than the 9".
Less horsepower lost through the drivetrain than a 9".
Is a complete bolt-in.
It also costs less than the 12-bolt.
For the love of God.... Somebody do a damn group purchase!!

I called them this morning, their website has not been updated and the S60 is also not in the catalog. The S60 is a direct bolt-in, all stock and aftermarket suspension parts are compatible. The only change that is needed would be a 1-1/2" shorter driveshaft, that's it!
If anyone has doubts, Please call Strange Engineering yourself... just like I did.

Yes on the ABS, or third channel. I never did ask about the traction control, as my car is only a third channel... but I will give a call to them in the morning to find out for you!
9.75" pinion gear
This is damn near the best rearend for F-body's. I expected a larger interest.

Don't you mean ring?
I think people would have more interest if they knew what exactly you're talking about.
Is this suppose to be the equivalent of a 9"?
Tell them to email you a brochure or something and post it up.
Steve at SJM told me about it, but I didn't ask for details.

I can't believe it's only a "few" pounds less than a 12-bolt. D60s are heavy bastards.
It is a direct bolt-in and from what I remember from Strange, I thought it was a shade over $2000.

Sorry, I had "Ring" and "Pinion" floating around in my head, and for some reason "Pinion" is what came out... Thanks for the correction!
From what I understood, it is just as strong, if not stronger than a 9". Has less parasitic loss than a 9", I was actually told the parasitic loss was within +/- 1% of the 12-Bolt. It's slightly heavier than a 12-bolt... but thats the trade-off you get for strength.
Sound to me like a better option over the 9".
I'm sure they are working on a electronic brochure of some kind, but I don't expect them to put a rush on it just because I asked.
The whole point of this thread was not to get every last minute detail of this rearend, if others desire such a thing they can call Stange Engineering themselves. The point was to make this new product (and a superior one in my opinion) aware to the sponsers of this site, in hopes that they would contact Strange Engineering and gather all the options and details for us. These rearends are in production for OUR cars, a few people on this board already have them installed. If the sponsers would like to make a "Buck", this seems like a good opportunity.
Again... It's about damn time somebody made this rearend for our cars!!!

The combo I asked about was right at 2,250.00
This was a S60 Rear
- 35 spline axles
- Tru-Trac Diff.
- 3.73 Gears
- 3-channel for ABS
- Dana 60 Aluminum cover (powder coated black)
Here is what I don't understand. If the horsepower loss from a 12-Bolt to a S60 is almost ZERO, but you increase the strength to the level of a 9" or better, allow the use of a Tru-Trac differentials, and 35-spline axles come standard..........What's everybody so bitchy about??
Is it the fact that it weighs 15-25 lbs more than a 12-bolt.... whoopty doo!
Or is the fact that it costs less than a 12-Bolt.... Must be cheaply made if it's less than a 12 bolt?
I'm always reading peoples posts in the "drivetrain" section, It's the same moaning and crying....
"I'm afraid the 12-Bolt won't be strong enough, should I go with a 9"
"How much horsepower will I lose buy switching to a 9"
"I can't lower my car now that I have a 9"
"I just broke my 12-Bolt, would this have happened if I got a 9"
"They don't make the Tru-Trac Differential for the 12-Bolt... Waaaa "
Well, all problems are now solved. Stop bitching and buy one
If we can get a group purchase together, we could probably get the price close to 2,000.
