This looks like the place to be...
Hello, new guy here.
My wife an I have been working on our 1969 Camaro for about four years now, upgrades, repair and resto projects. The time has come for it to be torn down, mini-tubbed at Detroit Speed and Engineering, some suspension work, flat panel firewall and painted, (not to mention other tid-bits.) Point being, it will be about three years before the '69 is on the streets again.
I was toying with the idea of building a pro-touring coupe and convertible. We finally decided that it wouldn't be a good idea to have two cars that wouldn't be driven except on perfect days. I started searching for a '97 Camaro convertible, (had to be white and orange) or something in the years 00-02.
Last night I took delivery of a 2000 Camaro SS 6-speed convertible. Dirty as hell, I tucked it into the garage, hoping to wash it down within the next couple of days.
I've been trying to locate info on LS1's and entered an area called LS1.com. It was difficult to locate info there as 95% of the fourm was my car rules and kill stories. I certianly don't have a problem with anyone who enjoys their car but I was hoping for more technical content, more akin to Team Camaro. I purchased some RaggTop cleaned off a website and noticed LS1-Tech link. I hope I found the right place here.
I look forward to reading up on LS1 improvements that I can implement at a low cost. (I don't want to take too much away from the '69 project.) With that said, I have to admit a friendly competition with my buddy who owns a 65 Vett, that beats my '69 everytime.
Oddly enough, just last month he took delivery of a 2001 TransAm, 5.7, 6-speed rag top. To say that the competition will now involve the 2000 SS against the 2001 TransAm can be a safe bet.
Both these cars are almost identical. This ought to be fun. Any advice you would like to offer will be greatly apprecicated. I look forward to learning here.
Best regards.
Rick

Thanks guys...
Tony,
For years I've been over at Team Camaro since I was only a 1st Gen owner. (I'm Scoop.) It takes a certain passion to keep a 69 running as every nut and bolts needs to be restored, or you've got to be slightly ill.
In another posting I noticed, (after the fact) that you had Jeff Trush's car images, from Jeff. No, I do not know him but I know the community. DSE/Kyle Tucker via products I've purchased, then Scott Gulbranson, Jody Bednard and other builders that are pushing the envelope to such extremes I can't even think whats next. The nicest of people too.
Anyway, the 69 will be sent out to Kyle at Detroit Spped and will some day, waaaaay in the furure emerge as a pro-toured 69, mini-tubbed, 2-inch lowered, Golan 383 450hp w/a Tremec TKO.
The 2000 SS Drop top is here to fill the void. I have to admit, I like this car lots and as I said in the intro, just had to search out the gurus for the LS1 Camaro. I am enjoying playing with this car and the 69 was only tucked away last weekend. Aside from this noisey as hell LS1 engine I've got, I think I'll keep the work to cosmetics only. I cannot afford two queens in the garage.
GM Muscle: I live in Amherst. If you've ever seen a red '69 RS-SS with the plate that reads RS-SS, that was me. (The car has been at the Nasswa more than once.)
I appreciate the support here and if there's anything I can do in return, just ask.
Rick.
