Lightbulb Blue Gauges Anyone?

OK well I've been working at these for a while and had given up but last night something just click in my head, anyway this is the outcome. I tried everyting I could to put LED's in the cluster but no matter what they would make spots, well I fixed that problem. If anyone wants a set I can do $35 shipped per set of 8, which is enough to do your cluster light, the turn signal lights and the high beam light. All I have right now is blue until I get some more supplies and get time to test some more lights. PM me if you want a set...

-Nathan

edit: Picture is up now, it's much much brighter in person!!!

Probably, Most things look better in person.. neon is one of those things, lighting is really hard to tell from pictures..

I did that to my intrepid and it looks slick in person, the picture makes it look o-k.

hey LS1 i pm you a while back about getting rid of the green in my cluster where my mileage is. i dont think you understood what i was asking. anyways do you know how to change the green where my mileage is to blue like the rest of my cluster?

Thanks

The actual color of the LED's are "Ocean Blue" so it's not dark dark but its not light.... I spent a lot of time and money on trying to firgure out a good way to do it and I gurantee you won't find a better price on these so I'd rather not give out my secret right away, I will say it requires wiring, soldering, bending and grinding...

LadiesMan: The only thing about that being green is that its the color of the LCD board in there, you would have to get a new LCD board with blue lights and solder in each individual wire, which I'm sure theres a lot. There may be another way but I don't know it, as far as I know thats the only way....

So what exactly would be purchasing? Simply replacements bulbs for what we have now? Just want to make sure I don't have to do anything but pop new bulbs in.

Seriously Nathan is the LED king..... i tried doing mine in the the dash, but there hard to do....i respect you for doing this!....also ill post up a pic of my rear cargo light....its freaking sick.....

Did you go with some wide viewing angle LED's( normally there 20-30 degrees, but wide angles are like 70-80 degrees)? I have decided to go back stock and change EVERYTHING in my car to RED..... hhahah its a lot of work but to me its fun

Yes these are a direct replacement, theyll just slide in. Right now I don't have anything for a trans am, the problem with TA's is the orange film behind every light on the car, there is a way to get it off but its very tedious and very risky so I wouldn't reccommend it unless you really know what your doing, but heres how to do it if you want to try...

Take your cluster out, take it apart and take off all the needles. Now the actual gauge part will come off it's just attached with double sided tape... Ill attach a pic so you know what I mean. Now the picture is of a gauge from a Camaro so on afirebird you would have to do the whole thing, but you get the point. In the arear that are circled in red in the second picturs is everything on the cluster that is red and wont let the blue light through. Now for this you need to get "NON ACITON" Nail Polish Remover, q-tips, and cotton *****. Rub it very gently and very softly until the red comes off, but not too much because it will literally eat through the whole gauge if you let it. After its off put it back together and viola!! Hope that helps!

[Another thing you can do if your worried about using any kind chemical to remove the silkscreen is simply use 400 grit sand paper in **ONLY** the small squareish area around the numeral on the back of the face . The silkscreen sand off very easy . The black background aaaaand the white numerals are silkscreened on the front of the guage face , so your not gonna sand away the numbers . I did this on a 98 camaro guage face , and by doing so will leave you with clear transparent numerals , but they will will still look white from the front .

Also heres a couple things that will take off the silkscreen that a little less harmful to the plastic guage panel . Read , less forgiving , but if left on will still eat the plastic .

Purel hand sanatizer
Off lotion with sunscreen

Another FYI - The ultraviolet color LEds that have recently come to market is direct match for the Volkswagon color of blue .
