What is the best alternative intake manifold for LTx?
I wish there were more interests in alternative intake manifolds in both the LTx and B-Body Community. We could definetly use a much longer intake runner to get more low and midrange torque out of motors. Sorry 3" from plenum to intake port is NOT the way to go to produce decent torque numbers. I think the LT1 produces a nice flat torque curve and good torque numbers inspite of itself and its intake not because of it.
So in your opinion what is the best and cost effective intake on the aftermarket, short of fabbing up a sheetmetal intake to put on a LTx motor for a high performance street Impala SS/Caprice?? Stealthram? GMPP Ram Jet 350 intake manifold?? A converted single plane carb intake??? Or even Edelbrock's new Pro-Flo XT??
In my reseach people on the forums mentioned something about "cutting and welding" the stock LT1 intake but they did explained what that meant. Can you please enlighten me of what that entails and is it worth the effort???

I am sure the factory intake will be all I will need.....maybe even in unported form, but I'm just curious to know what the Pro-Ram is? I tried using the search function and only found it mentioned with no description....or threads where I couldn't even find it mentioned at all. The search function here really frustrates me sometimes.

The fast 92 or 102 is a good intake as long as you bolt an lsx under it.

edelbrock proflo modify for lt1 coolant flow and come up with something for the throttle body.. it also has the distributor hole in the rear of the intake.

if the vortec distributor doesnt work, i'm not certain it will but it does send a 1x cam signal.
you would use this to plug the hole in the back of the distributor and do away with the composite oilpump drive housing..

It would be best if you knew things worked before recommending them to people who are going to run out and buy it based on what you said.

i didnt recommend them.. if you read you'll see i said

the very first line states that i'm not 100% sure.. if it doesnt maybe i need to go back to school..
i bet the dummy oilpump drive will.. seen it used on a gen1 with a front mount belt drive distributor on it..
