Default coated headers and 02 sensors

So i was reading through the info i got with my pcm after i got a tune, and it said ceramic/armor coating ruins your 02 sensors. Is this always true? and what should I do to not ruin them?

I have never heard that. I still have my stock O2's that have over 200k on them and almost 100k was with coated headers and I have had no problems

the coating inside can melt off and foul out the plugs, most suggest to run it with old plugs and replace them once they foul, some say leave them out until the coating burns off, some say thats bs and it wont happen. all depends on who u talk to.

Or just run without them for a few heat cycles. It'll still run in open loop and heat up just fine.

I put Hooker coated headers on mine and after about 100 miles or so it started acting up & showing o2 codes,I replaced the o2s and its been fine since ,2 years now.

To be honest I have never heard of our coatings causing any issues with O2 sensors. Most companies don’t coat inside 100% so the only thing I could think of is the heat difference might cause a fluke in the sensor???

With uneven coating on the headers it will not allow even dissipation of the heat. So the exhaust gases would act like a freeway with a car accident in areas that are uncoated.
