EFI 24X LS1 pcm conversion
Finally doing the conversion slowly but surely. Here's some photos that I've taken so far. Still waiting on other parts to finish the conversion. Sorry: pics are not in order.

Absolutely. Speed Inc tuned mine. I'm the first EFI Connection 24x car they've tuned, IIRC. They did a fantastic job.
Absolutely no cons. It's a simple, straight-forward install, with very high quality components. And your tuner will thank you.

^This. Worth every penny.
EFI Connection manufactures a cover that can work with a double roller, and stock timing covers can be machined to clear one as well.

Yep, they're MSD #32079, available from Jegs, Summit, etc. It comes with the LSx coil end boots and terminals, and a crimping tool.
Thanks for the compliment!
I also responded to your PM, FYI.

Lol, good catch. Yes they are. That pic was taken just after getting the header wrap on, and the parts shop supplied me the clips for a V6, and not a V8. So, I was short on the steel clips, and used the zip ties just to hold it on tightly to cure. They were replaced the next day with the proper clips.
Is there a big advantage on doing this conversion when running a supercharger? I may just be overlooking it. I see you get rid of the opti, which is great, and can take the engine up to higher rpms. Just trying to determine if it is worth going from a odb1 pcm to this.
Going from an OBDII LT1 PCM to an LS1 PCM is like....going from MSDOS to Windows XP.
If you want to do this on an OBDI car, you'll need a 96-97 style timing cover with the crank sensor provision.
Absolutely. You get the tunability of an LS1 PCM, and the reliability of the ignition system.

You need to have the 96-97 style timing cover to run the conversion. I assume you still have it on the car, considering it's a 97. You can run a double roller either by having your timing cover machined for clearance, or buy a billet piece from EFI Connection. Why do you need a double roller anyway? It's overkill.
Well I apologize, I remember people talking years ago about being able to load a modified operating system on the LS1 pcms using HPTuners or something like that to allow them to use 2 and 3 bar maps in order to more accurately monitor and tune for boost. I was under the impression that you could do it on an LT1 pcm but you would give up a lot of resolution on the tables. Sorry if I'm misinformed.

I have the conversion and I am running the custom OS 2 bar SD. qc97z I would like to compare specs with your tune and mine, primarily the VE table and spark table. PM me if your interested. Thanks Ben
