Default Turbo Headers

http://www.stainlessworks.net/cart/p...oducts_id=1760

I talked with stainlessworks and there small block chevy headers can be made with the lt1 flange and my question by the look of the design, would these be a good manifold to start with? Will the passenger side clear the accessories? I dont have AC if that makes a difference.

Stock manifolds dont flow nearly like these do. Lt1's are D shaped ports. I spent $900 on my old 4 cylinder equal length manifold. Spending 950 for two very well made high flowing stainless manifolds isnt that bad. Im not cheap when it comes to building a car. Anyways, my main concern is if the design will clear the accessories.

As long as the port on the header is larger than the port on the cylinder head they will work fine.

I emailed stainlessworks seeing if they know if the passenger side header will clear the power steering and alternator. Thats really my only concern about these headers right now. Stainlessworks can make them with whatever flanges and O2 bungs i need.

I would be extremely surprised if the pass. side header doesnt run right into the accessory bracket (and accessories). Those would not be the optimal choice for starting a DYI setup. If you want to keep stock accessories in stock location with stock bracket, you really need the pass side header to aim down toward the ground in order to route it forward.

Upswept, forward facing headers have to deal with VC, alt. and shock tower clearance. Downswept forward facing headers have issues with the motor mounts. The best way to give you the most room to run crossovers and DP's without losing a lot is a log style.

I'll start taking measurements and probably make something myself. I'll definitly figure something out though. I really want this build to be turbo so I'm looking at all options before I would ditch the idea.

I'm right there with ya. I think I've decided on something though. my build will be a little different than yours as my engine bay is gutted.
