I forgot to mention that due to all the failure threads I've read, I will only be using dual springs from now on.....except for one budget build with a set of 26918's I already have.

Yeah I know tell me about it ( $$$$ ) .
I found and bought a LT1 Block that is bone stock with 470,000KM so the block should be "seasoned" like they say.
I don't have the block yet but it is paid for , it's like 6 hours away round trip so I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to go get it without spending some extra money on that part.
The heads has been shipped back to ( Edit Feb 16 2013 ) Mr. No name. for a complete refresh so I'm waiting to get the heads back from him , swallow the cost of repair and send the 2 engine blocks at the machine shop to see what will be my options.
When I choose the components for my block I was expecting it to last as long as I wanted it to be in my car because I drive like a "grand ma" and take very good care of my stuff so I'm very dissapointed to be honest but I cannot blame anyone for that.
I had a warning first part of summer 2012 when the 1st spring broke and I didn't think much of it since it did no damage but for what I know now , I should have replaced all of them when it happen .
It's a costly mistake from my part ......

There was also a flood of failures 10 years ago when pac was making them before they put blue stripes on them. Buying aftermarket parts is often a crapshot, especially these cheap springs when you don't have the R&D and quality control put into them like the OEM's do.

Those looks GREAT! Ive been eyeing those springs ever since they came out, they have a very good price, and since Patriot left the game we needed another option. Hopefully all turns out well this time. Did you have any additional port work done while they were with Lloyd? The springs look weird with the big outer spring, thin damper, then little inner spring. Wasnt there a debate going on for a while on whether or not to take out the damper?

I have LE2 heads already and ( Edit Feb 16 2013 ) Mr. No name. did not touch the porting and I haven't ask him to touch it either but I follow what he suggested me for my setup and driving style.
He is not using single springs on his kits anymore.
He also said that so far none of the kit he sold broke springs.
That doesn't mean it cannot happen but at least if it does , hopefully the 2nd spring will hold everything in place.
I think during driving season I'll lift the valve covers a few times to look at them.
I will be hard to tell if you break one but I'll guess you'll lose performance.

Well people get really caught up in the box springs come in neglecting to consider valvesprings are a fairly complicated spring and relatively few companies are actually manufacturing.
People are stupid and think that just because a company or vendor puts together a nice set of matching components they MADE the spring.

When i had float with PAC 1518s there was nothing out there to use since Patriot went bottoms up. I Called Lloyd and he said hes been running a DIY kit on his heads since the extremes were not available. He made me a kit using SBC Crane Dual 99893 springs and lt1 retainers, locks, and valve seals. Installed them and my float at 6k was gone and pulls hard all the way to 6500 now. BTW the PAC 1518s were basically new and wouldnt handle LEs 223/230 .565/.565 112lsa cam. You need 155lb seat pressure with probubly all of LEs cams which the PACs did not running 135.

Breaking a spring and dropping a valve (or just severly floating a valve) is scarey stuff for me, but it's just hard to worry too much about the price of the spring.
I've seen thread after thread with broken Patriot duals, Comp Cams beehives, PAC beehives, and plenty of other big names. I'm not saying that cheaper springs are better.....just that the big names are selling the same cheap springs at a higher price.
As for budget springs that work last...I've ran springs (1.55" diameter) that cost under $150 from Herbert Cams on 2 different solid roller cams for several years of street/strip use. I'd guess around 5000 miles and 200 passes on one with mid .6xx" in a sbc and about 2000 miles and close to 300 passes on a high .6xx" in a bbc. With their budget titanium retainers and 10* locks these were just over $200 back when they were purchased. The springs and locks are still cheap, but the titanium retainers have doubled in price.
The crane springs I'm running on the LT1 were used and came on my heads when I got them. (kit #10308-1) I have no idea how many miles were on them before, but they all checked out slightly better than Crane's specs for them new. I've put about 8,000 miles on them so far. I tried searching for a failure with them and came up with nothing, but I usually can't find what I am looking for with this search engine. LOL
