i would never trade my t-56 for anything else... i love it.... much more fun than the a4... and mod for mod an auto will always get beat from a roll with a decent driver and unless your stalled you will not be able to out launch a 6-speed...

Not necessarily. A 3.23 geared auto on street tires can 60' just as well as a 3.42 geared M6 on street tires. Not to mention it's much easier to launch so the auto will mess up far less often.

i would have to see a stock a4 launch as good as a m6... both with street skicks!

That's dangerous for the M6's 10 bolt. I've heard of stock cars breaking them with drag radials and big clutch dump. And if they don't go with a big clutch dump then the 3.23 geared A4 can launch just as well.

But lets get real. This is LS1tech and we are all here to mod our cars. Sooner or later it always happens. Best mod for the A4 is a stall which is why most eventually get one. I'm actually on my second

I have no idea what you just said there. But it seems obvious that you're intent to give bad advice. Fortunately we have great stickies and a search feature here. Here is a quote from the "when will my 10 bolt break stickie:

Unfortunately, there is no 'set' horsepower where the 10 bolt will give out. It can break on stock power, at 350hp, 400hp, even 500hp+ for some lucky ones.

1. If you are going to be drag racing frequently and plan on running very sticky drag radials, you might want to think about getting to know someone who has a truck & trailer, just in case.

2. If you have an automatic car, you have a better chance of a longer-lasting rear end, due to less shock in the drivetrain. This does not mean it will never break - it'll just last longer.
It's common knowledge around here that M6's who do high rpm clutch dumps with sticky tires are putting thier 10 bolt on borrowed time. Sooner or later it will break. The difference between autos and manuals in this regard is that manuals tend to brake them sooner while the autos tend to brake them later.

And just out of curiosity, are you still running that 242/248 113 LSA 292xfi cam? Get any track times? That's a HUGE cam for stock dispacement and stock heads. I'm just curious how it performs.

You don't have a clue my friend. I didn't have a stall when I first got my car and raced a few M6 from the dig and got them pretty much every time. Bring your M6 to Portland and I will prove it to you Bring a camera so you can take some pics of my *** end for me while I pull you from the dig.

Racing aside, manuals are simply more fun to drive, imo.

+2...A4's pull me almost everytime from the launch. I'm fully loaded for the most part too as far as mods go. This guy is way off with his statements. He must be running V6's

You said unless a A4 was stalled it wouldn't launch a M6... done it before w/o a stall VS a M6

And you were just as wrong the first time you said it as you are now. I know that from my experience as well as my research.

In most cases this is correct. But if an auto has a big enough stall matched with 3.73 or 4.10 gears then the playing field is about even.

A friend with an f-body refused to use a good 4L60E builder and after getting a couple hundred miles at a time out of the badly built autos he put a T56 in and shortly thereafter he was calling for a trailer to get the thing home. Never bolted the slicks on, broken spider gear. So now he can't really enjoy the power he has because he is always afraid of breaking that glass axle you guys have to deal with. Wheelhop on street tires will break it just as fast as a clutch dump on slicks. The shock of a manual is just hard on parts period.

Trust me though I have considered a T56 for my car, I have not done it because at the power levels the car sees now I believe the auto is more reliable. If it were a bolton car then a T56 could be fun and reliable for me.

He knows about that option just a matter of having spent so much and gotten so little on everything else he has done that he has not modded it much in the last year or so.

Too bad you guys can't use the 8.5" easily. They are very reliable in the b-bodies unless you put a t56 in front of them then there can be some troubles once down in the 12s or lower.

The hardest on them is that initial snap off the line.. a B-body is alot of weight to get movin all of the sudden..
