.
Parts dont cost more and I think they vettes may have less problems discluding engine issue we all share.

Okay don't get me wrong but alot of the people on here posting about how fast their car is. I don't see fast. Heads and Cams LS1's making over 440hp.I have seen a few Lt1's hit the 400hp+ mark with similar mods. As you see by my signature I have 1 of each. I love my LT1 because of many reasons. I love the front end, the sound and the LT1 Z28's is what started my love of 4th gen F-Bodies. I say their are many reasons to keep LT1 Z28's but please don't deny that mod for mod the LS1 is the way to go.

here we go again! lol, yes mod for mod the Ls1 will obviously start with more hp therefore stay ahead of the lt1 mod for mod. This however is neglecting $$$$$$$$. LS1's are quite more expensive than lt1's. If I buy a decent mileage lt1 I can literally save thousands. Those thousands will facilitate my heads/cam plus supporting bolt-ons. Which can put me at about the 400hp mark. And this could happen possibly for less than if I had bought the ls1 in the first place, depending on the price difference of course. So yes mod for mod ls1's will have more hp since they start out with more hp, but money wise I think your best bet is the LT1. And thats just about all I have to say about that. -Gump

That has to be the funniest thing I read!! LS1's are sports cars?? The only LS1 sports cars are the 1997-2004 Corvettes. 1993-2002 F-Bodies have completely interchangeable suspension components. A Camaro or Trans Am will never be a sports car. Case closed

Also how was the LT1 the last brute muscle engine? I call the LS2 400hp engine and the LS7 505hp Z06 engine pretty brute muscle. These engines may not have similar characteristics of older small block chevy's like the LT1 but Gm only produced the LT1 from 1993-1997. The LS2 and LS4 and LS7 share similar builds to the LS1 which was in production from 1997-2004

One thing to note is we always talk engine to engine but when you buy a car youre not just buying the engine. Some people dont mind spending a little more to have a LS1 and a car that hasnt been beat up for 10 years. Then there are guys like me who would rather save a few bucks by getting a older car and using the saved dough on hookers. Win win situation. Kinda see my point?

We are all entitled to our opinions.

I see the ls1 cars as more of a sportier look, the lt1's remind me of just the older days when it was all just about displacement and not so much else. I do see your point as well. They just seem very different to me, despite the interchangable parts etc. Just a difference in opinions.

In true form, yes but the definition of sports car is pretty vague. I think he was more describing a feeling in a sence. Mabey I read it wrong but that doesnt make it dumb. LT1's have a odd strange following which doesnt surprise me when you look at the big picture.

I bought my car two years ago when I was 16 and I could not afford anything better plus there is something about LT1's that attract me more so than a LS1. I just dont know how to explain it but something about LT1 cars that I freaken love and always will.

BTW back to the topic i forgot to mention that Lt1's are very reliable engines. I had a 1994 Z28 A4 that had 183,647 miles when i sold it. The guy that brought it came with his dad in a 1998 Z28 Vert A4. My old Z had every bolt on and a Torque Convertor and he said he beat his dad couple times on the way back from NJ to PA

You must not be seeing that many h/c/bolton ls1s then, people are nearing 500 rwhp with them, hell they can easily make 400+ cam only

h/c/boltons nearing 500rwhp

cam only ls1s

But back to the topic
lt1s are underdogs
not many left, especially clean/modded ones
the sound is unbeatable imo

OK about 2 years ago I lost my motor to vandalism and had to decide what to do. I thought about buying a ls1 but hated the sound and EVERY toolbag had one. The ls1 Camaro is ugly IMO and the T/A cost way to much even with high miles. So I rebuilt my motor to a 396 lt4 setup. Car now runs 10's on a 75 shot and will bully the majority of ls1 cars! The money I spent rebuilding could have bought me a higher mileage ls1 but it would be a turd and POS.

1)sound
2) looks
3)cost
4) Dont wanna be like the other 1 billion ls1 guys
5) I like when people say ," lol an lt1 yeah I'll run ya!"

LS1>LT1 but the sound of an LT1 with a nasty cam,LT's and Borla or cutout is just nasty.

Another reason, nothing is wrong with my car, everything works, interior is still intact, Body is in great condition, new suspension, new motor (replaced all sensors). Also cause it is 1 of 526 1996 WS6 formulas is probably the main reason.
