which shifter handle size should I go with? They have two options on their site. If i go with the 12mm x 1.75 will I be able to use my SLP shifter ****?

IIRC you have to use the 16mm thread to use the stock Fbody shifter *****. Im not sure though so best bet would be to call them and ask directly.

WOW! After reading all of this I am going with the MGW Shifter. I was going to go with the Pro 5.0, but it sounds like the MGW is way better.

Default Sweet!!!!!

This is the first short throw I ever used. Took me a little to get used to it but I love it. It don't even feel short any more. Stock just feels way to long. I have been running it since July and wouldn't go back to stock for anything.

bought mine three months ago in the middle of my 408 build. bolted the p.o.s up yesterday and was pumped just to have it in. Havent even shifted it or started the car, but i am excited about this shifter because of the reviews. I bought my roommate the 06 mustang shifter for him and he bought my shifter. he loves his and so do i. i got a new tick m/c and monster clutch so everything will feel different compared to a ls6 clutch, stock mc, and stock slp shifter. cant wait, great quality. im just stoked about finishing my build really

They send you a stick. Trust me, you wont want a shorter stick or itll be harder to shift into gears with the MGW. These guys have got it figured out when it comes to the shifter.

I didn't like how hard it was to shift into gears, although my tranny had some miles of wear and tear so could be that too. Im using a Pro 5.0 and i love it, its easier to shift and feels precise.

Bringing this back from the dead...

So is anyone using the WS6 short stick with this shifter or any other short stick for that matter. If not Can you just cut the stick a 3/4 inch or so? It seems a little high in the pictures as I am used to the WS6 short stick.

I personally liked having a little longer throw. It made it easier to row the gears with a stiffer shifter. The short stick works great with the stock shifters but not with the stiffer aftermarket ones.

Yeah I think the length of the MGW is short enough if not a little too short.

With a pistol grip it was a little tall for me so I machined my own and I love it now. Best shifter out there in my book.

Okay, so I got the shifter installed today. Installed fine...however I'm not sure if there is something wrong with it or it was something I did. I re-used the shifter boot (the one that had the 7 7mm screws) and noticed it was a little tight fitting...no problem I figured. Well, the shifter doesn't like to center itself...it is alright from 1-3 but from 5-3 it doesn't like to center without a little help. I'm wondering if I need to modify the boot/get a new one? I did notice there was a little grease around the shifter, there was also all that red grease on the bottom (assuming that was supposed to be there). Any input appreciated, seems like a high quality shifter so I'm hoping it is only a install error.

EDIT: Took the thing apart and the shifter boot off, so it goes back to 3/4 from 5/6, albeit a lot more slowly than it does from 1/2 to 3/4. Not sure if this is a shifter problem or normal...but stock shifter went back quicker I believe...

EDIT 2: Alright so I re-installed, took the cover off, put everything back...goddamn it's loud. I'll try putting it back on...shifter does feel good though. Video of what I mean on the centering springs:

I love my MGW. Will never get a different shifter unless they go out of business. I used a classic style 6-speed shift **** from WS6store.com It is the right thread for the shifter stick and is about the size of an 8 ball. It is a really substantial piece to grip. I have never had any issues with the bolts that hold the stick or the pivot bolt coming loose or anything like that. This thing is a beast.

My buddy has the mgw in his car and from what I remember when I drive his car is that yes the return spring from 3-4 is a little slower than when it comes back from 1-2 I havent really noticed reverse too much though.

When I reinstalled my shift boot, I had to trim it to get it BELOW the piece that holds the shifter stick. The first time I installed it I didnt and it wasnt very easy to shift. I trimmed it and it fixed the weird centering issue you are having.
