Default Bellhousing Pressure plate contact

During the clutch swap, we found severe pressure plate damage to the outside and inner bellhousing damage. Common idea was maybe due to the wrong size pressureplate. Now, I am running a 402 PP and there seems to be contact again. Any thoughts? Seems to only contact after spirited driving, not all the time.
Please help me, or my car is going to the shredder (wife will make me trade it in).

I just swapped out my pressure plate myself. I'd have to ask if you took the bolts down cross wise evenly so as your forks are all even. Also did you torque the pressure plate hold down bolts? It seems like your pressure plate isn't as tight as it maybe should be.. I wouldn't run it anymore until I figured out what is wrong or you might get hurt, Fred

I am still having some engaugement issues, so I haven't been pushing the car, still waiting to install an adjustable Master. Want to work out one issue at a time. Running an ls6 flywheel with a 402PP and a 6130 disk. Any known issues with this combo?

Any way you could get a pic up? There usually is about 1/2 to 1" of clearance with that pressure plate. Something doesn't sound right. Is it rubbing all the way around on the pressure plate, or just in one spot?

You have an f-body right?

On my Corvette there is almost no clearance between the 402PP and the bellhousing. I cant put my pinky between them. If the clutch is put together right the only thing I can think of would be the thrust bearing in the engine, but even if it was gone it probably wouldnt hit the bellhousing.

We just put one (402 VDS) in a WS6 car yesterday, no clearance issues although it is a bit tight in there with any clutch.

Did you replace the pilot bearing when it was installed?

Pictures coming. The pilot showed no signs of wear and was not replaced.

There is no way it should be contacting if the PP is installed correctly and torque'd to spec.I would highly recommend you get a new adjustable master ASAP before you wreck the tranny syncro's too.

Looks like all that damage was cause by the springs that came out of the hub.

Thats not a suprise, it was probably bouncing around all over the place.

If your pressure plate contacted the bellhousing you'd have a big circle on both.
