IIRC the front plate, mainshaft and bellhousing are different. It will not just bolt up

Nope, It will bolt up.

The LT1 Bell Housing is the same config as the standard SBC. It will bolt up, but be lacking the 12 o'clock bolt hole and the block is obviously missing the 2o'clock hole. Overall, a bolt will be missing.

You will have to measure if you need an extended pilot bushing or not.
American Power Train sells adapter flywheels to mix/match clutch assemblies.

Not really an issue....

GMHTP had a writeup in one of their issues from a few months back. There is some stuff you have to change. There are various kits to do it though. Look on their website.

Thanks , I was pretty sure with some adapting it could be done but did not think it was a direct bolt in .

Yes, I know it will "bolt up" I mean he will not be able to use the transmission the way it sits. The LS t56 has a longer mainshaft along with a few other things

Of course he would. Obviously he can't use the LS style TO bearing meant for the LS t56, he has to use the pull diaghram style with fork. But it will bolt right on, use the LT1 clutch hydraulics and he's GTG.

I know what your thinking is he can't simply put the LS bellhousing on it and thats true.

No sir. The input shaft, front bearing plate (midplate), and bellhousing are different. This has been asked on here a million times....

This is the correct answer to the original question. It must be adapted if you want it to work. There are many, many posts on this swaop.
