Well you are thinking of it opposite of how it actually is..then again from the way I said it, that didn't help either.
What I meant by function was that when you tune it, under 3mph it will open the Solenoid and allow you to go into Reverse easier, instead of have to force it in. It is blocked out of Reverse unless it gets the signal to open the Solenoid.

Well, im in the process of swapping out my a4 harness to an m6 harness. I completed the A4-M6 swap last year, and im curious about what the m6 harness will bring back. For whatever reason my cruise control does not work. Will putting in an M6 harness make my reverse lights work, reverse lockout work and cruise work? Im pretty sure it will make the reverse lights and lock out work but what about the cruise? If not what do i need to do to make it work? Oh and how hard does everyone think it would be to swap an a4 interior harness to the m6 interior harness? I guess the underdash harness?

There is a Switch on the 1999 and up cars that goes on the Clutch Petal, it's called the Clutch Anticipation Switch. I know that one function of that is to turn the Cruise off, but you can actually wire that without that particular switch. PM me and I can explain it.

just finished the swap and my gauge cluster fuse blows everytime i put it into reverse.i used an m6 harness and when i put it into reverse the backup lights dont come on either. im guessing the 2 wires that were left over (green and brown) in the center console should go in place of the backup light wires on the tranny, because if i touch them together my back up lights come on. also its hard to get the car into gear when i turn it on. think i need to bleed the hydraulics a bit more?

yea the car moves in first and all the gears go in fine now except reverse.i can put it into the gate but it just wont go in reverse. also the car wont start unless i jump start it. somethng is massively draining the battery really quick.and when i do turn it on it runs but then turns off while in neutral and wont turn on again.

alright everything works great now. i have 1 suggestion about using an m6 harness.cut off the pigtail for the back lights off of the harness and cover up those 2 wires. elongate the 2 backup light wires from inside the car and solder on the pigtail. run that down and connect it to the back up light connection on the tranny. if you dont do that your gonna 1. blow your gauge fuse 2.drain your battery 3. your back up lights wont work. the only other wiring you would have to do if you use an m6 harness is solder the 2 wires inside the car for the hatch release together, and elongate the clutch switch wires and attach them to the black switch on your clutch. everything else is just plug and play.

so is the harness the COMPLETE engine wiring harness?
OR is there just a portion of it you can replace?
Looks like there are enough people switching from A4 to M6 and M6 to A4 to be able to just trade harnessses???
I am planning on M6 to A4, but was hoping to keep the pedels incase I ever go back..... Oh well. Maybe just easier to find someone do the opposite of what I am and trade out some pieces.
Anybody in IL doing this?
Thanks
