Default RPS - First Impressions

Just had the RPS w/alum flywheel (the only way it comes) installed last week. Only 100 miles on it so far as I'm breaking this puppy in. At the rate I put miles on the car it'll be a while before I can do any clutch dumps, but I'll keep ya'll updated. It did have some chatter the first day but has been fairly smooth since then.

I was real close to buying the LuK Pro Gold, but found this one and made the decision to buy it. I wanted an alum flywheel, smooth engagement, and 500 rwhp handling for a future stoker motor. This should last me a while...

Can you add the RPS to the poll so I can vote?

I'm torn between a Spec 3 , Centerforce, and Ram HD. Anyone use a Fidanza alum flywheel/pressure plate? Seems like alot of up and down w/ the Spec, and I really want it right the first time I change it. I plan on taking it on vacation this summer, and it needs a clutch bad (1 too many trips to the track), slips like an sob, and I don't wanna get stranded. Suggestions? I don't mind the heavy pedal feel, atleast then I know it's there.

Aluminum flywheels are more for autocross and round track. Steel flywheels are best suited for the street and strip, and also depending on vehicle weight.

"Selecting the proper flywheel helps you achieve the drivability you desire for your vehicle. Heavy street cars will benefit from a heavier flywheel to generate the inertia to get you moving. An aluminum flywheel will not generate as much inertia to move the vehicle, and thus it would be necessary to slip the clutch more on takeoff. Some street vehicles may benefit from a lighter flywheel, but only if there is enough rear gear to help you transition the clutch smoothly without excessive slippage.

TECH TIP ? HOW DO I SELECT THE PROPER FLYWHEEL?

When we are asked for a flywheel recommendation, several factors are considered to make a proper recommendation.

What is the primary use of the vehicle? For street driven vehicles, a steel flywheel will provide easier engagement and longer clutch life.

What is the rear end gearing? Lower (higher numerically) gears will make engaging the clutch easier, while higher gearing requires the clutch to be slipped more on takeoff for a smooth transition.

What is the weight of the vehicle? If it is over 2800 pounds, we will generally recommend steel.

Remember what the flywheel?s job is ? to help you get the car accelerating smoothly. If you have ever driven a vehicle and tried to pull off in second gear, you know you had to slip the clutch significantly more to get moving than if you started in low. This is the same effect you would notice if the flywheel is too light."

Textralia OZ700 is what I have

I have heard good things about tons of clutches and bad things as well. I took a friends advice and got the Tex. and now like 3 or 4 of us that I know of in Hawaii are running it with no problems. And these cars got tons of power!

Textralia in here also, Most of us aussies have heavy cars too! I beat the heck out of my Textralia on the track (well over 100 Passes) as well as driving it every day for the last 12+ months. Zero problems.

Its little wonder why GM have selected Textralia clutch systems in their latest hybrid offerings over here!

I got a Z06 clutch because funds were low at the time. I've put 23,000 miles on it and now I'm ready to get the new LS7 clutch.
