Default Car Wont Go Into Gear!!!!

hey i currently bought a 99' z28 and i hadn't had a problem with it until out of a sudden the car at the stop light did not want to shift into any gear. just like the other post on top, when its off, i can shift it into gear but as soon as i turn it on, it starts to move forward. i stopped the car as soon as i got that problem and friends have told me i need a new clutch and master cylinder and slave.. clutch is a centerforce dual friction with less than 12,000 miles . what should i do????before spending any cash, what and how can i check my car??? any steps on bleeding the lines??? i would really appreciate ur help thanx people...let me know what u think

Sounds like a clutch issue. I have replaced my clutch 3 times, each lasting 10 to 15k miles(spec stage 3).

Not usually the clutch itself, it is usually the lack of an adjustable master cylinder or an incorrectly set adj master cylinder.

its not the clutch itself. its a hydraulics issue. you're going to need a new master and/or slave.

i'd replace the slave first. they're more prone to going out then a master.

Correct its not always the clutch. But if you are already paying the labor for a slave swap, then its also a good time to swap the clutch.

Have you tried bleeding the system yet? I had this same problem a while back and bleeding the hyds. made a big difference.

Yeah, I've got this exact issue. Believe it to be the slave. Pedal is firm, will shift in to gear with the engine off but not with the flywheel turning.

I have the same thread!! I have the exact same car with the same problem! It happened to me about two weeks ago, Ive allready bleed the system, but no fix! I ordered a new master first, I dont want to have to pull the tranny if i dont have to but i am pretty sure its the slave cyl an throw out bearing not pushing the clutch at all. I started my car with it in gear ( I know its not good for the transmission at all ) and the clutch seems fine its a hydraulic issue! Let me know how it works out for u!!

My problem was the clutch. Something came apart. Should be getting the car back tomorrow with the LS2/7 setup.
