So what do you guys think: Bogarts or CCWs?
Why aren't you using the Boyds on the car?

Did you spray out of the hole on the 10.45 run (not bad for **** muncie track on cold rainy day!)?

Go to Darren's house and "borrow" his 9 inch, just to see how it fits

With 3.73 and a hard launch, it should be low to mid 1.4 short times on the juice.

Take the 10 bolt out this winter and sell it (Slightly used 10 bolt, no drag strip passes, out of 6 cylinder for sale)

Still using the 325-45-17 tires on back?

I would get some 15 inch for the rear, and use the 325-50-15 MT ET STreets, like the turbo Blue camaro has in town, his set up is nice, but you got to grind and so forth. I wouldn't spend all that $$$ on different rims to be honest, or look for some used ones in the for sale section at least first.

How are the new brakes working? What did you end up doing brake wise?

The Boyds don't clear the brake calipers, both on the face and on the rear of the caliper. That means a spacer won't solve my problem. There is a big step in the inner barrel of the wheel as it nears the "inside" of the spokes that's causing the interference. It's not close, so it's going to need a different wheel. I could go cheap and get some chrome ZR1s or something along those lines, but if I'm going to do it -- do it right.

The 10.45 pass was hitting the spray right after the car transferred the weight to the rear tires.

Yes, still 325/45/17 M&Hs at 20 pounds with a 4 second burnout.

The one advantage to getting Bogarts over CCW is that SJM offers a pretty big discount on Strange rears for up to 12 months after the sale of the wheels. They quoted me $2100 for a 12 bolt narrowed 3 inches per side, 33 spine axles, and posi if I bought the wheels and rear together. That would save me the expense of sending the rears back later if/when I do get a different rear that's been shortened. I'm not really interested in the 12 bolt, but they do offer the Dana 60. Only drawback with the 60 is getting the driveshaft shorted 1.625 inches or getting a new one.

Finally, the brakes work much, much better than the stockers. I changed to high temp racing fluid, Hawk HPS pads all around, longer braided lines in the front and I've got the C6 calipers and an aftermarket (take-off), slotted and drilled C5 rotor. I'll probably get some C5 blank rotors for the front soon, so they match the rears. I don't think slotting/drilling rotors helps it stop any better unless you're road racing.

I know they will need as many pre-registers as possible to help secure the track, but I would imagine they will have some pay at the gate also.

Glad to hear you may make it!

Everyone I've talked to says the 12 bolt is good for 600 rwhp, or so. I'm already over that. 9 inch and S60 are about the same money as a 12 bolt anyway. For a couple of hundred (at the most) dollars more, why not get something bulletproof?

We're going to see if we can swap converters this morning. Bob

We took out the oil pan on that last past when it stood up on the rear bumper, which also took out the thrust bearing. We're going to check with Leo from Weber Racing in the morning to see if he has one. Hopefully the 8's will happen this weekend. The only change we did from the 9.12 run to the last wheelstand was we put new plugs in because we had the tune fat until we got the chassis dialed in, and then we took some fuel out of it. We had a 1.298 60 ft on that 9.12 run, so much for a glide being a slower 60 ft. Wish us luck! Bob

JPH, I don't know if those are legal in the calss Bob's car is in...I know they can't have "wheelie bars".

Wow, that orange camaro is running HARD. **** the TH400 stuff, the glide is where its at. Enough power and a Glide is streetable like a TH400 (I would imagine). 8.90's would be sweet at about 155-158 mph. Nice job for being kind of "thrown together" at the last minute!

There isn't any reason why they would NOT be legal... they're not wheelie bars at all, they go on the front of the car to protect the oil pan.

Thanks Scott! Right now we're trying to straighten out the front suspension. We borrowed a thrust bearing this morning from a display engine, and we got it all back together with five minutes to spare! Then we found on the 30 mile cruise that the steering was more messed up that we first though. When the came back down to Earth yesterday the front tires rubbed the bottom sides of the fenders, Ted said it felt like he drove off a 10 foot dock. Apparently he has done that before... lol
Hopefully we'll get it fixed to where we can run the index class tomorrow. At this point we'd just like to get some more runs in and try to squeak out a high eight second pass. Bob
