Lingy's did a great job on the machine work on the block, they were within .000x on most of the clearances. Verrrry nice.

Thanks again to Nick (Beast), Drew and Bob at EPP, Ryan at Lingenfelter and JPH for a disturbingly good knowledge of torque specs off the top of his head.

If all goes well, I should have it out for break-in next weekend. Woohoo.
Good to hear that everything is going well for both you and nick. If you have my luck it will rain for the next week and you won't be able to drive it to break it in

Ordered this today:

http://www.harrisspeedworks.com/prod...&cat=57&page=1

It will let me go from two "boxes" to only one. Hopefully, that will eliminate another electrical gremlin possibility. It has an adjustable lean cutoff (rich too) when used with a wideband. And I believe that it will allow Chad to see the timing being pulled, so no more finger crossing and hoping the timing tuner works.

Joe called and said my new cam is here, too. 247/255 .624/.624 114. Not much bigger than before. More duration and more lift, though.

That's a hell of a toy for 149.00, very impressive feature set; looks a lot like my old FJO controller, which cost a bunch more than that, nice.

When does the new motor go in? I'd like a shot at the new setup once I get mine done, though I think you'll be out of my league from a dig.

Last I heard, LME will ship by the end of this week. Figure 3-4 days from Houston. Once it's here, it's up to Nate and Joe to put it all together and get the electrical stuff figured out. Then Chad will retune. Then 500 mile break-in. Then more tuning. If it's up and running full tilt by the end of September, I'll be happy. Just in time to put it away for the winter.

the 8.8 isn't the best axle in the world. You do know that the 8.8 and 12 bolt are a damn near perfect copy of each other. I've heard of guys breaking both... repeatedly. I personally have broke cast iron side bearing shims on the mach on low hp with 17'' mt's i have a full girdle on it as well. I upgraded to steel shims, and i'll see how they do. Don't look at how thin the axle tubes are on the 8.8's, its pretty silly. If i had an easy choice, my car would be running a 9''. no doubt about it.

My engine build (by Nick):

ARP cam bolts, GM HD Chain, GM HV Oil Pump:

ARP studs, Compstar Rods:

Wiseco 2618 forged/coated -25cc pistons:

MLS gaskets with copper spray, ARP 12 point head studs:

I'll snap a few more shortly with the heads and rockers on.

Blake, looks good. So whats the deal? You two get sick of wrenching on your own cars, so you decide to swap and wrench on each others instead?

It is times like these that I wish I weren't pre-occupied by flying everyday (sometimes twice a day) and I wasn't saving for a house, so I too could go the way of the Turbo

LOL, nah, Nick's a lot more experienced on engine assembly than I am (though I did teach him a couple things) so he took care of that.

Apparently I'm a better fabricator than Nick, though I still think I'm pretty mediocre at it. At least his kit is coming together decently enough though.

I'm sure in the long run your current path will be worth it.

Thanks Blake. I know in the end, all this madness will be WELL worth it. When it comes down to it, I wouldn't trade it for anything (even though it is a very painfull experience at times).

Even though I have the Formula out here, and I get to go PLENTY fast in the T-6, I still miss opening up my Z and feeling that much RAW power on the street. I've tossed around the idea of upgrading my D1SC for an F1A someday. My motor is built to handle the extra power and boost it would yeild (and then some). It would easily give me another 150 or so extra RW ponies. But I just keep coming to the same conclusion that I would loose all the traction I get now with my current setup.

Someday I'll just get a Supra and make it wicked instead I suppose
