My little brother is a 21E in Iraq right now. He is stationed in Ft Lewis. Even though hes a 21E he has been clearing routes with mine equipment along with the usual construction engineering, he does some pretty cool stuff.
Congrats, welcome, and good luck!!!

People that sign up for a combat arms unit tend to do so more because they want to kill the enemy in combat than because they want to do the same job when they get out. You can get a degree with GoArmyEd, then continue school tuition free when you get out with IVG in your state, get a white collar job and make more money than someone who was a fobbit in Iraq for a year while the boys were out fighting. And assuming you become an NCO while you're in your leadership experience will help greatly when applying for a job.

Welcome to the Army Bro. Have fun, stay safe, enjoy. You'll see that it really is what you make of it, at least you'll have a good trade under your belt if you decide to pursue civilian life again.

I don't know how much you get but yes, all branches give leave after boot.
I don't know if the army is the same way but in the MC you can go on RA(recruiters assistance) after you graduate from boot camp to stay home a little longer and if you get like 3 IIRC people to sign up while your there, or who put you as a refrence you can get a meritorious promotion which puts a little more money in your pocket....
