Red face !AC newbie question

Hi,

I understand if I remove the compressor, condensor, lines and evaporator but leave the fan motor and heater core, I'll still have warm air. Obviously I'll have no icy cold air, but will I still have coldish air?

And how much of a PITA is the evaporator under the dash to remove?

Thanks for helping a newbie

I have removed everything under the hood for the A/C and left the dash side alone. If I put the "A/C" on it will blow alittle cooler than out side air temp. You can get in the dash and remove the rest of the A/C and still have heat if you want.

Thanks for the help conan

Do I need to remove the interior dash to remove the evaporator, or can I get it out from the engine bay?

Cheers for the help,

Paul

Thanks for the help conan, and cheers for the links.

I guess merv had it easy removing the evaporator, as his block was right out the car, and it sounds like you've left yours in there. Can I remove it from the engine bay with the block still in without pulling the dash?

Sorry to ask sooo many questions

Evaporator comes out from the inside..it's easier to do that way. I did it with the Engine out, but it can be done with the Engine in the car..just more of a pain in the ***.

Hey merv

Thanks for your input.

Not keen on pulling the dash, I'd prefer to have the PITA and pull it out from the bay side instead. Thanks for letting me know it will come out that way.

Great build BTW

Thanks.

I'm actually planning to pull the Dash apart when I swap the Car over to a different body, I'm going to fiberglass the HVAC Box and make it function as if it never had AC..I have too many problems with mine now, it has all kinds of air leaks.
