So i lay in to it,WOT, and i have noticed some smoke out the back. I wish i could say it was tires but i know thats not it. The engine has 140,000+ and has had the piston slap going on for as long as i have owned it. I m afraid it probably from the powerplant but i was checking for any other ideas or if any one has ran across this. planing on picking up a 6.0 here in the near future so it not a big concern, but it is still my daily driver.

Its not, its Newbie Tech! Im willing to bet its blue smoke cause your blowing oil thru the rings considering the 140k+. That would be my guess. Wish i had a good excuse to go to a 6.0, mine runs pretty good............for now!

Like asked above, how much smoke are we talking about? And is it only at WOT?
Even if it is the rings, if this just recently began (and only at WOT), you can probably still get a decent amount of miles out of this motor. Just watch the oil level and don't beat on the car.
Just in case the smoke is not blue/oil, keep an eye on the coolant level as well. Also, you can pull the plugs and look for oil fouling.
If none of the fluids are running low, then I wouldn't be overly worried about a failure in the very near future.

not sure on color i usually only notice it a night, when i look back and see the cars behind me driving through it. And yes only at WOT and it goes away after i let out of it, another cat crapped out on me awhile back so its probably oil.

Factory tune is pig rich at WOT, any fuel trim issues and
it might get even worse. That's your black smoke.
PCV system at WOT, will pull oil backwards through the
inlet hose if you have any restriction forward of the TB
(you do, everybody does). And any accumulated oil in
the intake is just waiting for the hurricane to head for the
cylinders. That's your blue smoke.
Talk somebody into chase vehicle duty and find out for sure.

ill that, i didnt notice anything this morning but it was raining also so my vison was a bit impared. im going to try it this weekend a few times and see if it mellows out after a few pulls. pretty sure it not black. When we get enclaves and traverses in for there recent recalls there is a resinator on the intake tube and its always full of oil, so that makes sence. thats was the kind of info i was looking for.

the piston slap was only happening in the winter when i first bought it(2006) and now its every time it has cooled down. Its end is creeping up but there should be a fresh 6.0 to replace it when the time comes.
