Default where to find them....243,799

I have a 2002 z28 m6. Currently I am running Kooks long tubes, their off road y pipe with a flowmaster cat back. The catback was on it when I got it I may change it out, slp lid with the flowpac kit, z06 throttle body and grantelli maf. The car is going to LXperts for the shake and bake cam, but i am looking at heads. This car doesnt' get driven all that much as I have a daily driver also. I am thinking about doing the CNC'd 226cc GM LS6/LS2 Cylinder Head Package from AI. I have checked local yards and i can't find a set of core heads to ship in. I am hoping for mid 400s at the wheels. Anyone got anything laying around or know of where to find them. I'm in Woodstock,GA about 45 min of Atlanta.

I started my quest a few weeks ago. Hell I got to say though if I don't get my parts from Maryland speed soon I'm going to burn it down. I got a little while to look around for them its no time table so Ill just keep a eye on it on a few boards maybe I can find some. Them being super slow has gave me more time to piece a few more items together. I think that the 243 or 799 will be a good choice for what I'm wanting.

I'm guessing you didn't get the memo with Maryland speed (there's more in the feedback section btw):

I found it after. Like the day after it was five weeks as of yesterday and my message button is gone off my account now lol.

a guy here on the site has these for sale they are not a bad price PRC Stage 2.5 Ported 243 LS6 Heads TSP .660" lift dual spring kit with PAC springs and titanium retainers asking 1600 shipped I think that will feed my need. I have heard that they don't accept a big cam and 235/242 621/592 is pretty healthy

I also spoke with TSP yesterday to ask about the prc2.5 heads. I have read on here about clearance issues with them if I don't mill at all they will fit though with the big cam id imagine. I'm new to the ls1 world any help is appreciated.

I am just worried about the PTC with the stage too and that much cam. It would be safer to run a kit for texas speed id imagine which aren't bad. I would do the oil pump and chain with it. Something like the Precision Race Components Stg. 2.5 5.3L Heads & Cam Package kit or the Precision Race Components 227cc Aftermarket Casting Heads & Cam Package

the later one is about a grand more but its the one that they run on their car. I have all supporting mods and a someone to tune it.

You are overthinking this, assemble the head to the block (use an old stock gasket) torque it down with modeling clay on top of the piston, take two old lifters apart and add apiece bolt material where the plunger goes and make you a set of "solid" lifters to check piston to valve clearance. Roll the engine over by hand at least one revolution. Disassemble it and check the thickness of the clay impression. save the lifters for further builds. If they come too close put a thicker gasket on or have the pistons "Fly" cut. Texas Speed or WS6 Store won't B.S. you Just follow what they tell you. My .02 cents worth
