Default New Times after Cam & Headers

2001 Z28 M6. Ran 13.98 at 104.7 on a warm night a few months ago with just a lid. Since then I've done: 224R cam, Stainlessworks headers, Street Pro Cutout, 160F T/S. Stock TB & Pulley.

Ran a 13.367 at 110.30 mph. This is in Phoenix at 1250 feet and 90F and 27% relative humidity. I'm very pleased with the 110 trap speed but very disappointed with the 13.367. My 60 foot was 2.226. I got a better 60 foot on my last run, but I really leaned on the clutch then it blew the tires and went to the rev limiter in 1st. I need to get better tires. I was launching at 2200 rpm and that car would spin a little then bog. I also was just running through the traps in 3rd gear (6 speed). I could use some 4.10's but I still have the 10 bolt rearend. Well, I like the trap speed, just need to get the launches down to 2.0 seconds. I want to consisitently run in the 12's and above 110. Shouldn't be a problem with a colder night.

Details:
60 foot: 2.226
330: 5.896
1/8: 8.803
1/8: 83.62 mph
1000: 11.298
1/4: 13.367
1/4: 110.30 mph

Temp: 90F
Humidity: 27%
Barometric: 29.88 corrected

Weight: They still didn't open the scales, but I did fill up with gas yesterday, so I was probably 100 pounds heavy. Guess around 3625 with me in the car.

What do I need to do to get solidly into the 12's? 4.10 gears? Sticky tires? Also, do I need to do the drill mod on a 2001?

Also, some input on the other cars. There was a couple of Cobras there. I asked one guy what he ran and he said he hadn't run yet but he expected mid 11's. Wish I had run him, he ran a 13.6 to my 13.4 on that run. However, he ran the 13.6 at 116 mph! What is going on, his 60 foot was 2.3 seconds, but that still doesn't explain being at least a second off what he should have been at with a 116. Nice guy, even though he was driving a Mustang. I asked him why it was so fast and he said he replaced the supercharger with a Whipple.

Your 60 footer times are not the best. Tires will solve that no sweat.

Like Glovererson said, get some good tires and your times will drop.

Tires will do it for you. Also wait till the weather is a little cooler. I am going to the track Sep 26th and hopefully it will be cooler then. I am going to be real upset if I don't get into the 12's. My car ran a 13.2 @ 108 bone stock back in 98 when I first got it. The weather was very cool IIRC it was between 40-50 it's been a while. Since I have added Kook's LT with ORY 4.10s, Lid, and the other mods in my sig. With the way the weather is now I doubt I could touch my stock times with all this. I think my weak point will be my stock clutch with over 91,000 miles on it. Glennhl how do you like the cam you have in your car? I am thinking of getting one like it. How is the sound.

Cam is great. I'm glad I didn't get a smaller or bigger cam. It is very streetable after tuning. The torque curve is very flat, makes over 300 foot pounds of torque from 2500 up to 6500 rpm. The peak power of 381 stays very flat from 6000 to 6500. I bought my cam off of Ebay and was told it was a TSP 224R. But when I posted the numbers 3722R on this site, I was told it was a Comp XER 224 and that the main difference was that there was not advance ground into this cam where the TSP cam has 4 degrees of advance ground in. As far as sound, there is a really good lope at 800 rpm, but at the 925 I have the idle set at, sounds like a stock cam.

Thanks,
Glenn

Thanks for the info. It will be a few months before I get it if I do.
