Ford 8.8"
What the general thought about the Ford 8.8"? I'm about to purchase one I think, UNLESS someone can sway me otherwise to get something different. I can save about $500-700 from your typical 12-bolt.

The ford 8.8 is stronger from what I understand. I say this because if it was a weaker peice then some of the 4x4 guys would be using the 12 bolt where they are now uising the 8.8 instead. I could be worong but it seems to me that there are more 12 bolt faliures then 8.8s. I do not know the power levels of these when they snap though.

well, just make sure you have a high enough spline axle, or you'll have problems with it just the same. I have a friend who has a supercharge 5.0 pushin 380rwhp, and with slicks used once he fried his rear... but he had stock spline...

Yeah I can get a 8.8" w/33 spline axles, eaton posi, alum cover, 3" studs, 4.10 gears, and a bunch of other stuff for $1895, and it supposivly weighs about 175lbs. Something I cannot do with a 9" since they are about $2500 for something similar. They will also weigh more and take more power. My MAIN concern is price. I don't have a lot of money to be spending on rears.

from the sticky:
''The issue we had was with one non-sponsor shop and individual(s) that were pimping their stuff like crazy, but the shop refused to even consider supporting the site. Not only is that unfair to the shops that pay the bills to keep this site up so you can talk about cars and share your knowledge, there were potential questions about the product/shop itself.''
