Hey well heres my dilema, i REALLY want a camaro, i mean like alot lol. But this car will be my Daily driver and i need fair MPG. I drive about 2 hours to work every morning, the roads are empty as i leave at 4am, coming home is the highway. Say i drive roughly 5-7 miles per day, taking it easy on the gas, what kind of MPG could i expect? Im looking at a 98 or 00' ss, how much do you spend a week on gas? What could i do to increase MPG? Reduce weight? Any thoughts? I know Fast cars and MPG dont go hand in hand, but i still have my hopes that i can work something out lol ![Tongue](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_tongue.gif)
edit: your probably saying, why not get a civic if your looking for MPG? Cuz i want a nice fast car for weekends and sunday drives and such.

When I'm rarely trying to save gas I get about 28mpg on the highway. But usually whenever I take out the Camaro it's spirited driving and I get about 230-240 miles to the tank. I guess that's not bad for racing and usually a 10lb bottle worth of nitrous in there too

I have just intake and exhaust powerwise and get 21/3X highway.
if I am going a bit more mph on the highway it'll drop, same with top off on highway. around 28ish is my best guess for 75 with no roof would be 28ish?
I do keep my aligment on track and tire pressure in check. I have a 6spd as well stock gears.

strictly highway ive gotten up to 31MPG...people dont believe me, that was when i still had the 2.73's in my car...just doing 65mph with the windows up and no A/C. Usually tho it averages around 27 or 28 on the highway..around town driving easy i can get 20-23mpg. I'm sure now that i have 3.42's my gas mileage on the highway will drop pretty good. But we'll see.

i drive mostly in town but the worst ive had is 12 mpg and the best ive had is around 30mpg on a road trip my tank usually ends up lasting 2 weeks just driving to school and back but on average id say that i get around 18 mpg in mostly city the 6th gear really saves on the gas if your going with a M6

This was a pretty good debate on this link. I think reading up on some of the posts should give you the general idea. LS1's are decent for gas milage.
