Talking TCI converter bkows through on spray. Help me pick a new converter!

Ok guys, I just tried to have my nitrous setup dynotuned and the converter blew through like crazy on the 200 shot. Put in the 150 jets and same thing. So I need a different converter. It does great on motor and cut 1.61 at the track.

So, I called Yank, told them my setup, and they suggested a SS3600. He said itd definitely handle the 150 hit no problem and might be ok on the 200. Well, I def want to do the 200. He said I may have to bump my shift points to 6800 (currently at 6500) to not blow through on the 200 but that isnt something I want to risk. I asked about the Pro Yank Extreme converter and he said thats for guys w the BIG shots and 800+hp. So I asked about the SS3200 and he said itd def hold the 200 but give up a bit on motor.

My question is what stall to go with? I dont want to replace the converter to just be having the same issues but then again, I dont want it to be a snail off the bottle. I know not too many people run a 200 shot around here bur im hoping someone can chime in and point me in the direction of getting an EFFICIENT converter for my setup. I dont want to only be pucking up a tad ET and MPH on a 200 opposed to 150 because the converter isnt efficient enough. Thanks for any input.

Give Greg@FTI a call. He is a sponsor here and also a link in my sig. He will build it to your EXACT combo and not some off the shelf stuff. Couldnt be happier with the converter or his service.

You wont be disappointed

Hmm, i did give Greg a ring and had a talk to him about my setup. Im contemplating on them but if i were to stay with Yank as a brand, does anyone have a suggestion on something to run by them?

FTI here also. but why would you not take Yanks advice on what to run, if you really want to stay with them...they do build the converters. My converter was built for what you want, rapes on motor...and well rapes on the bottle. I can tell you right now, im not giving up anything on N/A. If youve talked to Greg, Im sure he explained it all to you with our measly 200 and less shots...lol

I'm curious what yours will run. Did you ever run 10.50 with just bolt ons and spray? That's kind of my goal for this spring.

I ran 11.6 in bad DA w that 1.6 60ft on motor. Its never been ran on spray. First spray ir saw was this dyno.

I was thinking about possibly staying w Yank, but if I do, I dont know if the ss3600 will hold a 200 shot. Yank doesnt even know. And the 3200 might be a snail on motor.

go with something built for your combo, why would you go with something with such uncertainty? Makes zero sense.

To be honest, it was because I was wanting to run a Yank. I cant lie. But this thread is making me think otherwise.

well i have my fti installed... and holy **** its amazing... if it doesnt make mid 10s this year i will be really suprised... the converter is a little loose but its actually better... i took it around the block last night while dry and it was awesome... it snowed about a inch last night and i was stubborn and still wanted to bring it to work today. it drove better in the snow with the new converter but it wont see that again so who cares ha ha

Glad i looked here, I am going through the same issues with my ls foxbody. I am running a th400 with unkown converter all i know is from what i was told when i bought the car 4k stall 8".On the dyno on 100 shot my converter wasnt very happy. Car went 10.8@126 allmotor. 10.3@133 on 100shot and put down 502whp. The motor has a piston and rod for nitrous and i have tunes for 150 and 200 shot and want to try them out. So im assuming that FTI could help me out aswell
