Default got flamed today about nitrous

On a local board I said it would cost around a 1000 dollars for nitrous. Everybody starts flaming saying it only costs like 300-500. I said after the kit, rpm window switch, bottle opener, bottle heater, switches, plugs, etc... It would be closer to 1000 dollars. They think I am a nut for spending all of that money on nitrous. How much did all of you guys pay on your nitrous.

If you are serious about doing it right, yes it will be around $1000.00, but you will have a nice, safe kit with no worries like the person who spends $300 and has his bottle in the backseat heating it with a torch.

I spent about $900 for an NX kit, warmer, purge, blowdown tube and the MSD digital window switch.

if you want to do it right, safe and just plain the best way, it's gonna cost you much more than $1,000...i paid more than that for my direct port alone.

Yeah, if you don't shop around and pay full price for everything then yeah. It won't cost you "much more" than a G, but right around there is about average IMO.

I'm into my complete system $1,400 bucks and thats with only one bottle...

It's a pretty nice system though.

The guys with those $300.00 systems are the ones that give nitrous a bad rep for messing things up.

The people that are ******* you either have way to much money to worry about their engines or they have some beaters(hell if I had a POS to play around with I might just buy 2 noids, hose and nozzle)-- A n20 "kit" comes with the basics to get you started but a n20 "system" is reliable and safe. I personally would never install a n20 "kit" in a vehicle that was actually worth a ****. I spent $700 on accessories(everything you can think off including gauges and upgraded electrical components) and I got them all off of ebay(all brand new) and I saved over $250 that way. I got hooked up with a demo kit for $250 w/o bottle wich I spent another $200. So I spent $1150 and saved about $500 all together and that didnt count the install for $400. My buddy dogs me everyday about my "$10,000" n20 kit he says. He got some used noids, hoses, bottles for free from friends and after he installed it and used torches to heat his bottles he wants to buy all the accessories he made fun of me for buying. It would be a very good investment to spend over $1000 if you want your n20 system to last longer than 6 months!

I'll be at just over 1,100 myself with the TNT F2 kit, heater, purge, window switch, switches, etc. I think that's probably smart in the long run.

I ahve done quite a few setups on mine and customers. Never have gone under $900 for parts. Its a minimum of a NX 20920, genx-2(bottle heater, purge, down tube, fpss), and a window switch of some sort. You are definatly right. Spend the money once and do it right. there is people who pick up 5 tenths with a 150 shot and blow there motors sooner then later. Then there is people who pick up 1.6-8 seconds and 13-14mph, and make pass after pass without a single problem.

I concur; a good kit with the proper accessories is going to cost you at least $1000.00 depending on how you put it together and who you purchase it from. If you would like to save a little money and have the time and resources you can put one together a little cheaper but some are not to keen on using used parts. For example you could easily find a used NOS sniper kit for a carbed application for roughly $200.00 used (Ebay?), get a fogger nozzle and a few -4 (I think.) lines. This would allow you to put together a less expensive kit but you would still be safer using new solonoids. I would also reccomend a Hobbs switch for fuel pressure, a good bottle heater, (Maybe a blanket as well depending on climate.) microswitch, proper relays and (As you stated.) an MSD RPM activated switch (Window switch.). This would cost you less than a thousand but then again sometimes you only get what you pay for. I have run used N20 parts on a varity of cars and had good luck but everyones luck and history of N20 use is different. I will typically rebuild a solonoid after two years of standard use or one year if used on a progressive unit. Hope this help and please keep in mind that it is only an opinion and the facts of my experience with the subject. Cheers !!!

Big Jimmy

Ok the guys that are flaming you either did not keep track of what they spent, or they bought the cheapest thing they could find.
A complete kit (single nozzle Wet) with GenX2,bottle opener, electric nitrous gauge, and bottle blanket is retail priced at 2181.00. Now I know yall can find it cheaper but I thouhgt I would through out the retial pricing on a complete nitrous setup. This does not included window switch, TPS switch, or spark plugs. 1400.00 is more than fair for doing right and completly.

Like the first $300 is to go fast, the next $400 is to
go fast twice and the $500 after that is to go fast
consistently & conveniently?

I work at a performance shop, i get the parts at cost, and i spent about $1300 on my system. NX wet kit, GENX II, window switch, SLP bellows, 15 lb bottle upgrade, bottle opener, NX switches, 2 5/8" autometer gauges, etc. Various small fittings, extra line (not cheap at all), electrical components, all that small stuff is what gets ya. It adds up fast too.
