Nitrous Guys: Why did you go with spray?
I am thinking about getting a supercharger, but already have a 150 shot on my h/c/i/e/stall 98 SS. I love the idea of the power always being there...even though I hardly really get on it! I guess bragging rights. For some reason I always thought if someone was running 10's on spray but 12's n/a it wasn't all that impressive. What are your thoughts? Convert me!

1. i like the fact that its not always there, less stress
2. IMO, easier to tune (i do my own tuning)
3. cheaper. yes, you have to pay for bottle refills, but i only refill when i go to the track, about twice a month. FI setups are just too $$$ for me
4. from looking at dyno graphs for ls1's, most of the time (not all the time), i hae noticed that a good 150 wet shot can match a good blower setup as far as hp, and most of the time make more tq
5. if i keep the hood closed (i dont open it for anyone), nobody knows what's under there...no blowoff valve, no blower whine
6. GREAT bang for the buck!
i could sit here all day
in the end, what matters is what you like. if you like having the power there all the time, and dont mind the price of a blower, then go for it! you cant go wrong either way

He means -125 degrees coming out of the nozzle. this means when its hot out and the other guys IAT's are 110 degrees he is gonna be a little slower then normal. You hit the button and like magic you have a ice cold charge rushin through the intake. I love spray for many reasons. i am puttin a t-76 turbo in the black truc but it will have spray as well. The t-76 will be enough for only a little while also n20 is a great 2nd intercooler.

I just like nitrous. I am spraying 2 of my cars. It's a whole lot cheaper to build a 9 second nitrous car than a 9 second FI car. It's also hard to explain how hard a big shot hits compared to the same rwhp in a FI car. The amount of torque that Nitrous makes at lower RPM's compared to FI cars is usually a good bit higher. As stated above the tuning is also much easier on a Nitrous car. Also they can be much more streetable than cars that make big HP in other ways.

When it comes down to drag racin at the track (cough cough..), it's hard to beat a 500hp N2O car with a 500hp F.I. car. granted everything else is the SAME.There is lots more torque lower with the N2O. Pro's and Con's to it all. You need to find your prefence or formula that works with/for you.

Cheap 10 second car (for now). A lot more expensive to do a totally built NA or even more so a turbo car.
The fast LS1's are turbo. But there is a couple nitrous car not that far behind.

Hmmm, that has me thinkin. I'd probly even be willing to bet that there are more fast N2O cars then F.I. cars. Then I guess that fast is a relative term. Deep 11's would be real fast for imports but 'take a nap and wake me when it's over' for Johny Force.
Ok, now that I think a little more, the above bet would be most likely true due to the fact that it is cheaper to do a N2O setup and run the same time as a F.I. setup(and as always, all other things are equel).

Think of it this way...you could have a fairly mild heads/cam combo with a forged bottom end for just rolling around on the street. It would be much safer to drive around town. You don't have power all the time, so you don't cause as much wear and tear on your engine. Then, just crack open the bottle for the 300 shot (for highway purposes only, of course), and take care of those pesky little Supras and Cobras that are lurking around.
You'll find that people that run a lot of boost have a hard time keeping the intake air temps down to a reasonable level. Nitrous is a very easy solution to this problem.
For me, I just asked the question "Why do I want to stuff a bunch of piping, possibly a front mount intercooler, and other stuff into a fairly tight space when I can just run a few small lines and be done with it?"
There will always be the people out there that think nitrous isn't a viable power adder, but that is probably because they are sore losers.

I love the street manners of my stock internal engine. But when I open the bottle its doctor jeckyl and mister hyde (sp) What sucks is I use 3# per pass. even over filling my bottles to 17# I only get 3 good passes at the track. Do a search for answers to "what do I need to run 200 shot" trust me it has been beat to death

#1 the the HP / $ ratio is good
#2 added insurance of having that extra 100hp just incase at the flip of a switch.
#3 it looks very intemidating sitting between my back seats.

Its instant hp with the tap of a button, theres no stress on the front of your block and crank like a supercharger, It doesnt take hp to make hp. and its relatively cheap. Best bang for the buck as others state it.
