A little of this and that lol...

I tore down the 387, looks like the crank is prolly gone, as well as the cam. I spoke with Steve at Race Engine Development about that MID block. MTI did the original sleeve install and they did it wrong. Apparently the machining needed to be done as a wet lubricated cnc procedure, and they did it dry instead. That eventually causes uneven block stress/cylinder bore distortion and ultimately tries to seize up the piston/s in the bore. After that, there's nothing left to give but the connecting rod...... It's no wonder MTI Houston went **** up.

I did pick up an iron 6.0l truck shortblock so I'm trying to decide how to go with that. With money being tight at the moment, I might just do a mild rebuild on this 6.0 shortblock and stuff a big cam in it, although I'd at least like to install some H-beams. We'll see how it goes.....

MIT had someone working for them that hosed all the blocks he did. He then went on to open up his own shop. But this was well before MTI went belly up but his shotty work does continue

We can do a rotating assembly with bearings balanced for cheap money. If we use the C series crank and Scat rods, we save a ton of money that way. Get it all for under 2k balanced with bearings and then your into a 408 for a cheap as you can be. Get the block prepped and your good to go. OR go with come Compstar rods for less work. But there are options !

Anyone know where to get a low-cost master rebuild kit for a th400? I've got one in the barn that I'm going to fix up with a shift improver kit for a side project. Rock Auto has one for about $85, and summit has a b&m shift improver kit for about $30. Summit's house line master kit is about $120, seems to have the same parts as RA's.

Those look god phill. where did you get the paint cause I wanna do something like that also.

So I got a question. This has happen to me three times now. When I'm hauling ***, like doing a 100 and then I slam on the breaks for the red light, come to a stop, an then I get this blue haze coming from the back. It's oil and not break smoke cause I can smell it. I'm thinking my rings are bad or is it from the oil not being picked up cause of the stoping force and pushing it all the way forward. Any ideas?

thanks phil I told him. I might want to go check it out and see if they would let me test drive it. The poncho has been down for a few weeks but, I now have the 9" in and am just messing with the brake lines and such. I have to wait until they send me a fill plug cap. They must have forgotten it.

Hey anyone got a 220 welder they're willing to rent, none of the shops I frequent here have anything higher than a 110? Ive got a set of sway bars, 3 point subframe connectors, lca's, and a tunnel mounted torque arm torque arm w/driveshaft safety loop hidden in my living room behind my sofa just waiting to be installed. Can't find a shop that can weld 1/4" steel, and my wife's driving me crazy....Need to get this stuff installed before the axles and driveshaft gets here and she really flips out...lol.
