Joe,
Things will turn around for ya man. Keep your chin up and start beating down doors for a job,,,, ANY job. If you're that close to UI running out, you need to be applying to about 4-6 jobs everyday! If there are no jobs advertised, go look for them at places that aren't advertising. Often times employers need help so bad they don't have time to place an ad! Go to these places in person, ask for the manager, a person-to-person introduction is always better than a phone call. Networking, call people you know and ask them if they know anyone hiring for anything! Keep a positive attitude when talking to potential employers. And a lower paying job is better than no job + no UI!! That will at least get you by until you can find the right job for you. It might suck for awhile, but at least you won't be homeless. Sometimes it helps to make a list of priorities and then tackle them one at a time. That way you won't feel overwhelmed by everything.
Hope this didn't come across as preachy. Just trying to help a 'friend' in need. See, you didn't lose all your friends.

jeremy, i look for all kinds of jobs. i know you think i only look for jobs that are the best ones but i have lowered myself to min wage jobs. havnt heard anything back from the casino interview yet. but here is the latest, my old salmon boat skipper found a really good boat that needs a guy he is calling him tomorrow to give me the recomendation. now this guy is one the most respected fisherman in southeast alaska(the guy that is recomending me) and he is gonna call me tomorrow. he is gonna tell the guy that i am the **** and give him my number. my chances of getting this job are very high. my last name alone is enough to get me a job up there for the summer, no bullshit.

and i might add that this job "catching salmon" is much better than anything i could ever hope to get down here. heres the scoop for the 2011 SE salmon season
pinks=45-50 cents a pound
pinks are the primary species fished for and caught in SE AK
and most boats that produce catch up to 1,000,000 LBS of salmon for the months of july and august. with that price and that amount of poundage = about a 500,000 dollar gross stock i get 8% of that.
