Well T$ it all depends on which 5.3 heads you get. The 706 castings will be the smaller valves, or the 799 castings will be the larger valves. also with used heads you run into them needing new valve guides, always a fresh resurface, and stem seals atleast. I can do anything you want to a set of them, it's all about how much you wanna spend brother! as for the new factory GM heads I can get either set for just under $200 per head.

Even if that weld is perfect looking, there are metallurgical processes that have been disturbed by welding on the spindle. On mild steel, yes, the weld can be the strongest part. When you're dealing with hardening processes done to forged components, things are different.

Go easy on it until you replace it.

hey Joe can you send a pic of the spindle and where it broke? i'm just kinda confused on where and what broke as far as the "tip" goes? basically i can understand if something minor breaks then just weld it back up but some parts on a car that have a failure that has to do with basically the safety of you and your life like a wheel falling off or something like that and a part that bares a-lot of weight and geometry like a spindle/knuckle does just do it right bro the last thing i want to hear about is a camaro sprayed all over a highway because something snapped and stuff..

I've got your home # but what up with the cellular whip? Still out of commission? I'm tired of calling your house at 3am and getting yelled at by your family.

So I shouldn't start the conversation off with "Housekeeping" and end it with "so you no want massage with happy ending"?

So I wanted to give an update on getting the new to me SS deq'ed. I bought it out of state with an ORY and failed deq in sherwood cause they looked under the car and saw the misteriously missing cats (even though the computer said they are working fine)... I debated getting some fake cats but then read on here that a catted y will get rid of rasp, which I had plenty of.

Anyway I ended up ordering 2 highflow magnaflow's on ebay and had Darrell's Economy Muffler welded them in. Went to deq yesterday and passed and the exhaust really does sound better to.

They looked under the car with the mirror's again and even after the guy passed me one of the other tech's came over to ask if he had checked the cats. Befoe this I have never had deq look under any car I have owned.

Just thought other Portlanders might be interested.
