New Delphi LS1 MAF design
Delphi P/N AF10056 is the new redesigned version of the stock LS1 MAF. Does anybody know if these are any better than a stock LS1 MAF in terms of its maximum reading limit, airflow, or consistency? This style does not have the internal air foil like the traditional LS1 MAF.

I don't like the look of that skyscraper in the middle, to me
it seems likely worse for obstruction / turbulence than the
old airfoil design. Of course the screen is the larger problem
still.
I'd stick with the old style, minus screen, and a Holden MAF
table, if I were staying with a 75mm piece.

You could always change it for a Saxon screen... cures the turbulence problem while reducing the surface area of the screen as well as increasing the screen hole-size....
Also, yeah, I'd like to know if you could use a card MAF in a tube like that; Properly tuned, of course. It seems a lot of the 100mm MAF's just read odd at part throttle due to the ID increase and the slowed airflow.
I wonder if a card MAF would work in a housing like the one pictured?

So you think that the flow through the "screen" is laminar? Or around
that fat square pecker in the new MAF (plus screen)? Yeah. So just
how does removing the screen damage laminar flow, as if it had any
relevance here?
The "minor pressure drop" equals the contribution of the stock lid at
shop-vac flow rates. Worse for sure at what a hungry V8 can pull.
Go ahead and leave that on the table.

It's not a screen like your screen door. It's an airflow straightener that smooths the airflow over the entire cross sectional area of the tube. It isn't there to keep cockroaches out of your MAF.
Those of you who think de-screening your MAF increases power. What exactly are your MPH increases in 1/4 to backup your theory?

Hmmm. I can't say I have had very consistent results from it. Back to back, same day, pass after pass results have always varied going back and forth. Usually .1-.3mph and not always higher with the straightener removed.
