Just picked up my new project car 95 M6 last week after finally getting my 95 A4 sold last week. It has a bunch more miles (150k vs the 60k on my auto) so i'm going to be freshening up just about everything on it and thought i'd document it for fun and posterity.

Here she is:


So far:

It came with Hurst short thow in it, some sort of mild cam (still waiting on the guy for full specs on it), a ws6 hood (minus the ram air box, i'm in the market if you have one), some really loud muffler, and c6 wheels with new tires.

I've got a set of Koni STR.T's with Strano Springs ready to go on, have the paint drying on some LS1 brakes out in the garage, new LCA's, relo brackets,and a couple other bits.

Just ordered a rebuild kit for the diff, new front hubs, a founders adjustable torque arm, some 4.10's, front suspension bushings, strano sways and a watts link.

The plan is a comfortable and tight DD that holds its own on the auto-x track on the weekends, chime in with any thoughts or questions.

She got a full re-spray when the WS6 hood was put on.

Finally got the tranny pulled today (no reverse at the moment) should get it tore down in the next day or two




Also got new hubs on my LS1 spindles for my brake upgrade (going on next week)

tore down the tranny today, needs a new main shaft, 5-6 gears, reverse gear and a couple small parts...looking at $600 to get it back up to snuff

So the tranny finally got built and put back in a couple days ago:



also threw on my Founders adjustable torque arm while i was under there (no pics)

So i'm finally getting to drive it a bit since i bought it...

Took a few minutes yesterday and put the ram air box on:






While taking off the ebay intake, i found the previous owner had left the AIR hose off, so who knows how long it's been sucking up unfiltered air into the intake and exhaust

Also found i have a bad alternator, waiting on a Delco to come in, will be doing a battery relocation to the trunk when i swap them.


I'm having too much fun driving it right now to get to the suspension, brake, and motor upgrades i have piled in the garage...maybe in another week or so

Been working on stripping my LT's this week, painting them next week, shooting for next weekend to do all my engine work and install exhaust.

Picked up some Auto-X rubber today, first race is in about a month

Finished painting the headers:




Then tackled my halo'd fogs i've been wanting to do. I dug out the old housings with no glass left in them:




Found that with the mounting tabs bend inward a bit the new fogs fit inside the housings pretty well:




I ended up drilling a hole in each side of the housings, using the mounting bolts that came with the navigator fogs and securing them to the old housings that way. Then i ran a bead of RTV around the gap to seal the space between. Worked great for keeping stock mounting/adjustability.

Getting the LED harness run was a bit of a pain, but worked out alright, mounted the switch in the glovebox:















Should be draining the fluids and taking the intake/valve covers off tomorrow to get started on the top end build

looks great! and i bet it sounds great with the headers. My ls1 purrs nice but in my opinion the lt motors sound better

LT1's have the best stock idle and exhaust note IMO...

Lots to do if i want this thing back on the road for the first Auto-x on the 28th...Got a few misc things done tonight, took off the oil level sensor, wired in a new knock sensor pigtail...then busted my knuckles trying to get the stupid Knock sensor out...anyone have any tips on getting the thing loose? the "hex" head on it isn't very well defined, kind of rounded corners and tapered...i'm at a loss.

Tried to cut off my exhaust and found my HF electric cut-off wheel woefully inadequate, gonna have to borrow a pneumatic one.

aaaand, i got my intake off! yay! finally feels like some real progress when i lift the hood up and see pushrods instead of an intake

nice build sir. might want to upgrade the valve train. it will make it stronger and rev better when you are in the high rpms autocrossing and free up some hp.

Planning on it, I have 1.6 RR's, new lifters, new springs, pushrods and guide plates all going in with my cc503

I know this isn't the "proper way" but in a pinch what's worked for me is get a torx head that you dont care too much about at a size that barely doesn't fit, put it on an extension and tap it with a mallet until it bites into the head of the hex. Back it out and replace with a new screw.
