this is a sad sad day for any real car enthusiast. to see names from the great cars of times gone by being slaped onto every hunk detroit puts out these days. all because some "focus group" liked it, not the mass market.

What about calling it an SSJ version like the late 60s to early 70's Grand Prix's that seems more appropriate. I don't think anyone would have an issue with a G8 SSJ

This whole deal is just frustrating, after reading for two hours I'm still confused. Add one more to the heard of people who think this is a good name going to waste on the wrong car.
JUST USE A DIFFERENT NAME ON THE CAR AND HAVE THE SUPPORT OF THE PEOPLE WHO REALLY CARE. WHY MAKE SOMETHING CONTROVERSIAL THAT DOESN"T HAVE TO BE!

Why not call it the G8x..at least when you want to compete against the bmw its not a g8 firehawk vs the m5....not classy at all. Wait until car and driver or other major magazines get to review the car, they probably will get pretty tired of the long name...maybe SLP stands for:
Self
Learning
Program
or
Self
Loading
Pistol
I think it is the second one because you are killing a prestigious name, i myself do not have a firehawk, but if I had a chance I might own one in the future...one that has two doors

why not just call it a G8 GTX, like the older GTX grand prix slp modified. I dont own a firehawk but i can tell the name just doesnt flow with the G8, the styling of it or anything. theres plenty of names that would go so much better with the SLP G8. **** you could even just call it that like other people have said. but you guys do own the name so we really cant stop you, but honestly a better fitting name the flows with the styling would really boost sales i think.
