Corvette LS2 Fuel Rail Covers on GTO

Corvette LS2 Fuel Rail Covers on GTO
So you want to put Vette LS2 FRCs on your LS2 GTO?
Here's what you will need:
-1 13mm socket
-A dremel with a cutting bit
-A file
-A set of LS2 Corvette Fuel Rail Covers
Step 1: Getting Started
Use the 13mm Socket to remove your factory strut bar.
Also twist off your oil fill cap.
Then remove your stock GTO Fuel Rail Covers.
Just pull up and they will come off.
Your engine bay should look like this when you're done.
Step 2: Modifying The Passenger Side Cover.
Here is what your FRCs look like on the passenger side.
You will need to clearance them for the oil dipstick with your dremel.
The first cut you should make with your dremel is extending the dipstick cut over about two inches.
I made a neat trapezoid shape.
Now cut up and over with the dremel another square inch or so.
File down the shavings and clean up your cuts.
You should be able to secure the FRC with all 4 OEM mounting points.
And now the Passenger side cover is done!
Step 3: The drivers side cover.
You will need to make 2 cuts.
The first is to clearance for the GTO's fuel line.
Cut the lips off of the plastic that extends down where Corvette fuel line comes out.
The second cut is to clear the GTO's brake booster.
Cut a square out about 2.5 inches in and down.
Now would be a good time to wrap your fuel line in electric tape to protect it from leaking.
Again, file down your cuts to make them look nicer.
You will only be able to clip the FRCs to the fuel rails.
The mounting points on the heads will not work.
Step 4: Finishing up
Put your oil fill cap back on.
Put your strut bar back on.
Secure it with the 13mm socket.
Place your socket and dremel back where you found them.
Vaccum up your mess.
Step back, clean your engine bay(because if you own a GTO and don't keep it clean the GTO fairy will pop out and punch you in the *****), and enjoy your work!
P.S. Sorry everything has a blue tint, I was shooting in a studio the other day and forgot to set my white balance back to auto.

Sorry, I'm really not digging it. You have a GTO, not a Corvette. I don't see anything cool about hacking up Corvette rail covers to put on a Pontiac GTO.
But hey - it's your car.

I'm also not the only one who wanted to do this, but couldn't find explicit instructions.

I mean - I could maybe see doing it if you filled the Corvette letters and then did something like put "Pontiac" on them.
But if you like it, that's all that really matters.

Nice job and if you dig it, that is all that matters. FWIW I am not a fan. Why put FRCs on your car at all? They are just big thermal blankets for your engine. If you have to have them, put them on only when parked at a car show or your local drive-in...but then...at least have the correct model listed on your FRCs. Personally, I like the old school chrome look. The Holley LS covers are relatively inexpensive, offer several different finishes, do not require a separate coil relocate package and look great. Corvette FRCs on a GTO??? I'll pass.

My Corvette FRCs
Thanks for the post. I think these look great on my Goat! I was able to place my passenger side without making the second cut after ever so slightly bending the dipstick tube outward. Also My drivers side sits perfectly flush and mounts to ALL 4 points after routing the fuel line through the Corvette's fuel line relief on the top side just like it does on the Vette.

Yeah - I just don't get it. It's an LS2, but the Corvette has different accessory routing, etc. It's not like you took a Corvette motor and dropped it whole into a GTO. Rice if you ask me.

Yeah I get it Robo and Hazz, you don't like it . I realized that before I posted thanking 409 for his info. "Rice", Really?... How about "Ghetto ". Well everyone has an opinion but to be honest the covers do serve a purpose of protecting the coil packs and the GTO factory ones have the inherent gas line rubbing flaw as well as being awful to look at . So I understand just wanting to get rid of those. -from the onset The ls2 has always been a corvette motor with a packaging change to the accessory drive and exhaust manifolds thats it. The corvette covers are more of a homage the the origin of the powerplant .And why put Pontiac on them? There hasn't been a Pontiac motor in a goat since before Nixon.
Also thanks for clearing up the obvious, I'm not driving my Corvette WHEN I'm driving my GTO. Got it...
I usually don't respond the Debby downers of the net but I really was just trying to say thank you to 409 .
I am new to THIS forum but not at all new to the scene, and other GTO forums.
.You sure have a way of making a guy feel unwelcome...
