Would you think the GTO is ugly if somebody didn't tell you that? I've been told that the GTO is an ugly chick. You can screw her, but don't let your friends know about it. I've been told this since day one with the GTO.
I've driven the '04 and '05 and I LOVE those cars, but won't ever buy one because everyone including my fiance says it's a lame duck.

I also disliked the GTO from day one. It's styling is just too bland. I always get GTO owners pissed off at me because I don't notice them, lol. That should explain everything.
To answer your question, No I would not spend my money on a GTO with or without an opinion from someone.

I think the gto would be a hot seller if they gave it a different name, and kept on competing it against bmw similars. I really think people wanted a very stylish gto not the semi aggressive look that it is. So if it got some other name like the Pontiac Solstice or something...you get the point, it would of been taken more seriously than it is.....oh and **** what other people think of it, your not buying it for them.

What you think is all that matters. I love mine and dont give a **** what others think. Sure, the mustang looks better, but its a common everyday POS rattlebox.
With some wheels and a new hood, i think mine looks uber-sechsy.
I do think they are not the best looking cars out there, but you have to decide if looks is a primary concern to you or not. I wanted high build quality, LSx performance with a good solid interior, etc.

I'm on the fence, there was one sitting in the parking lot at the gym and i asked my girlfriend what she thought and she said it looks like a bigger version of a cavalier. I guess it's the rear end which is the main issue, too round and too skinny of rear tires.

I don't think the GTO is UGLY (I own an '04), but I do think there is a problem with the rear quarter panels and the overall proportion of the back end of the car. The rear wheel wells have this big featureless fender area over/around them. The distance from the top of the wheel well, to the top of the body/trunk, is too great. The wheel wells need to go up higher relative to the body lines, like how the front wheel wells come up nice and tight to the hoodline. The current styling creates an illusion that the rear wheels hang too low.
Also, there is a lot of rear overhang. (I know we need it 'cause the trunk is small, but still.) And I think it would look better with longer doors, that go further back closer to the back wheel. 'Cause it looks almost like a 4 door car with no back doors. But longer doors would make it harder to get in/out in tight spaces.

I think they are bland in stock form. Change the wheels and put wider tires and I get compliments everywhere I go. Oh, and I've always been different in my taste of cars, I hate pullin up to the light in the same car as everyone and their mother.

Sorry, no offense to the Goat owners, but at first glance I thought it was a G6
They all start looking the same after a while, but does make for the sleeper look. Never did, and still don't like the exterior aesthetics.
You asked, and I was honest, but then again, I own an F-body. My opinions are obviously based on comparisons.

well my dad has an 05 gto. i think we both agree my 02 ws6 has a better body style...but i dont know, there is just a different feeling when you drive the gto! also too, i think the gto is meant to almost be a fast comfy car. i dont think it was meant to have the sleek sporty look of trans ams/camaros. thats the difference i guess. i could sit all day in the back seat of the gto...but i wouldnt last 5 min in the back seat of my TA, lol. if all that made sense.

Like already stated, if it would have been given a different name the opinions on the car would have been very different from a lot of people. That is the one mistake GM made with the car...other than that I think it is a nice lookin car and have wanted one for the past 2 years, but it still doesnt live up to the GTO name that everyone wanted it to which brings about the harsh comments etc.. Kindda the same deal with the new charger as well...

I personally think that they look pretty good. Of course if you compare it to the 98-02 T/A's with the ws6 package they don't look as good but that is just my opinion. I think that those were the coolest and meanest looking cars around.
