Default Great road racing setup?

I'm just curious, if someone was going to do a complete road racing setup on a F-body, what all would you buy?

List out all the parts please.

You need to be way more specific than that. Are you shooting for a certain class? Certain series? Just an HPDE toy?

A CMC car will have a short list, while an AIX car will have a much longer one. And some sort of budget or goal is needed, because you can always make the car (but not the driver) faster if you spend more money.

Call Strano and he'll line you up with a suspension that meets your needs. Then just add some power, maybe reinforce your 10 bolt, and a few other specifics. A4 or M6? Current mods? Safety rules at your local track?

How does "call Strano" let folks know what to do?

When your car has a little push in corner exit and you are getting ready to grid up, do you "call Strano"?

Sam is very knowledgeable, but Jesus Christ, how does spoon feeding teach anyone anything?

Shock Hawk ... tell us your OPINION, not who to call.

Shocks and spring rates should be #1 on your list. You gave no budget. The sky is damn near the limit ...

I'd just tell you get get his setup because you can't go wrong. There are other setups, but "call Strano" works well because we have no idea what 560SL's needs and limits are as far as his car and his money. If he would like to inform us on his specifics, then maybe we can help him.

I would go LG coilovers
strano bars
SJM LCAs/PHR
Unbalanced Engineerings decoupled torque arm
17x11 ZR1s for all 4 corners
Porsche brake kit

this might be a little over, haven't looked at prices for a while

if anything left put tit towards rear-end strengthening and a new clutch

Default Track day who*e

Please, don't forget the brakes!!! Especially if you have a penchant for red calipers!! As in Porsche.

Afterall, it's how I got into racing.

You miss the point ... if he calls Strano, how does anyone else learn anything from a private phone conversation?

Sam's setup has served him and others well. But this site is turning into a marketing vehicle for Strano Parts and AT&T ...

Why would you want the opinion of someone who doesnt know what they're talking about (no offense to hawk)? Talk to the guys who know, then post it.

Thanks for making my point ...

And there is nothing wrong with asking questions or posting opinions ... even if they are a little skewed in another's eyes. Debate makes everyone think and learn.

Everyone's taste in "handling" is as unique as a finger print.

You guys are off topic. 560SL wanted info and I told him a good place to find it. Whether we know what it is or not does not matter. I'm sure 560SL would be kind enough to discuss the results of such a phone call.

Also, Strano has 5 championships... I can mention his name to non-f-body guys and they know who he is. Unless you have more than 5 championships, don't say that he doesn't know.

No one is questioning his "5 championships" and no one said "he dosent know" What Mitch was getting at is if every called someone for every little question they had, it would defeat the purpose of these forums and create post that people search for that dosent have any answers. Asside from that, with suspension, everyone will have a different recipe for what works and what dosent so you cant say that someone is wrong becuase suspension setups are like catback exhaust systems. All personal taste. So lets try to get this back on topic and help this guy out. Isnt that the reason you guys are members here?

Steve-D sells them. It's an awesome brake package, especially for the money.

Had the Porsche brakes on my '98 and they were fantastic.
