difference between T/A and WS6 T/A?
Hey guys,
I'm may be buying a T/A soon and would like to know; What is the differences between a T/A and WS6, if I'm correct the WS6 features SLP lid and maybe some kind of exhaust, plus the hood. Is there any other differences between the two?

T/A Just a base model formula.
T/A (WS6 PKG) Higher box over radiator, power steering cooler, ram air hood,17 inch wheels, smoother flowing exhaust, better tune in computer, stiffer suspension I have a ws6 the code is on the door seal where its says ws9 The ws6 to me is far better than the Camaro ss. Camaro had to make a slp addition to keep up with the T/A in 02.

The WS6 looks better, that's why lol. But truthfully, the only real difference is the rims, hood, and sway bars which make the big difference from the base model TA. All the other stuff is so miniscule that it doesn't effect the car's performance at all. A base model TA and WS6 are just as fast as one another. I know for a fact, look at my sig. The Ram Air doesn't work as advertised, so don't make that mistake thinking is does anything until you reach about 120mph. Then you might see a horsepower or two without sealing the hood to the intake lid...
The Firehawk had a bigger lid, SLP dual/dual catback, better shocks/springs, wheels and a different hood though.

Hell no I mean stock vs stock a ws6 is faster no dout 2nd ws6 comes with a power steering cooler that help if you race alot my 1st car was a 1998 T/A 2ND 1998 CAMARO SS
3RD WAS WHAT I HAVE NOW A 1999 WS6 Almost forgot to add a
TA COMES WITH 2.73'S
WS6 COMES WITH 3.23 THAT'S GEAR AN THAT'S A BIG DIFFRENCE

just fyi a ws6 is not going to be any faster than any other f-body stock for stock. its a drivers race. actually in most cases a base stripper z/28 is going to have an advantage over a ws6 because the ws6 comes with all the "goodies" that weigh it down.
oh one more point, you could get a t/a with a 3.23, and dont forget all 6 speeds came with 3.42's

the ss and ws6 are solely appearance packages. hoods/spoilers/wheels. the only difference is going to be a little larger in diameter exhaust (who cares), and the sway bar is bigger in the front i believe. also the decarbon shocks are valved a little better too.
and thats a lie about the gears, because you can get a z28 with 3.23 in the auto, it was a dealer option also. and yes, all m6's came with 3.42

I was always under thought a Base Model formula= Firebird Formula (and it says "Formula" on the side right behind the front wheels) and always thought Base model T/A was just a base model T/A without the looks, and those tiny things described to me above, and it says "Trans Am" behind the wheels. Is it not true that a formula is a formula, and a T/A is a T/A, whereas a T/A Ws6, was just an optional package? Because where I read on KBB for instance, a formula and T/A are in different categories, but a T/A is where you can find under the "List of options", the "WS6 package".

i've never heard anything about the tune being any different.
and they didn't make the SLP SS to keep up with the T/A. It's the camaro equivalent of a Firehawk.

and T/A's have the option of 3.23's so not ALL of them have the 2.73's in the a4's. The m6's all come with 3.42's either way.

ARE YOU SERIOUS???
To put it most simply. . . the difference is a hood and badge. THATS IT!
If people stopped worrying about the difference and realized they rolled of the same damn canadian assembly line, comments like the above would not happen.
And the difference between an SS and a WS6?? . . . . ready?
PREFERENCE.
wow. what a thought. I would be more concerned about the differences from year to year.
Look at it this way: I'd much rather have a 2002 regular T/A than a 98 WS6

Ok, this is getting ridiculous. People are just pulling numbers and facts out of the air. The WS.6 does not have a better "tune" , and no one here knows the ram air only helps when you get to "120mph" "and only adds a horse power or two" LOL. Where do you guys get this stuff?
And the wheels aren't just 17" instead of the T/A's 16", they are also wider, accomodating a 275 tire, the regular T/A has a 245. The other guys on here got all the other stuff about right.
Ram Air hood - everyone loves the ram air hood, it makes the T/A's look pretty bad ***, definetely a plus.
WS6 higher air box - yeah, but most end up going SSRA or FTRA and seal the front of the box anyway.
32mm front sway bar - +1
WS6 badging & Ram Air decals
Lower restriction catback - Everyone gets aftermarket catbacks anyways
17" high polished wheels w/ 275/40/ZR17 tires - these are a plus
Jounce spacers for 17X9" wheels
Power steering cooler - I have been worried my powersteering pump will overheat, haha

also blk_ws6 what gears came in your t/a... if you had 2.73s then that could make up that .2 tenths
