Default 1st race w/stage 1....Cobalt SS/Tc vs. 2008'ish Mustang GT

Finally!!!

Not only was this my 1st decent race (longer then one gear) with the stage 1 tune but I finally got a fair measure of what this lill fugger can do
I am excited because we know what late gen GT's can run!

I was feelin froggy since it is my day off. I slept about 5 hours last night, woke up, had too much coffee, cleaned the whole house, washed the car, etc. I technically should have been cruising in the hugger since its finally nice out but I figured I need not neglect the newly washed lil Cobalt.

Driving down my main strip I see a bright red GT in my review. He was 3 cars back but looked eager to catch the other shiny red car ahead of him (me, duh!) so I do my best gray haired granny drivin to let him get near me. We had a few cars around so it started out as just admiration for the freshly washed rides.

Long story short, he gets an open spot and I am behind him. He NAILS while we are at about a 20 roll just as its about to open up into 3 lanes and a 1/2 mile of straight, open land.

Surprisingly as I nail it, I am on his *** big time before I have the room to get into my now open lane, so I play a blow-off valve melody, drop out of boost, get back on it and now I can jump over. So now with him a car ahead and me building boost again I start to pull....HARD.

I NLS 3rd at 65mph and I am close to his door, as I wind out 3rd, I am now pulling past. BAM.....NLS into 4th and I pull a complete car and then a lil more before we shut down.

We both throw a thump-up out the window and he stays behind me for a few miles before I throw on the left signal to turn around and head home. As i grab the left lane he yells "bad *** lil car" out the window

He had a passenger (his woman) and appeared stock with what looked like him banging gears. I had an empty car seat.

That is all.
It is going to be an interesting summer!
I cant wait to get to the track

Cliffs:

Cobalt SS/TC stage 1 > Stock late gen Mustang GT

-------------------------------------------------------

I almost forgot the best part!
At one point I was sitting in front of him as we patiently waited for the right amount of room. I caught him pointing and grinning at the name of the vehicle that will soon be freight training him:

Good kill man. You seem very excited and I understand why. Its amazing that he was a good sport about losing too! Sounds like a picture perfect first run against a 3V stang.

Thanks!!!
Just a bit excited, it just happened about 30 minutes ago

Well he looked a bit perturbed as we gave a few lil short bursts before it opened up but he seemed to come around after I came around him

I have been waiting for a lineup with a newer GT for a long time. I molested a stock 2002'ish stang before the tune so i knew it was time to stop it up to the new age body style!

i have to admit, its as fun a DD as my hugger was back in the day. everyone expected the z to be fast in 99' but not a lil "slobalt."

ouch!
only 250hp on them?
i thought they can do mid 13's or so.

i would venture to say he didnt expect the outcome

Great kill! I really can't wait to see what your car traps next time you run it at the track.

That SLOBALT badge is great!

Also, I think the 2005-2009 GT's make around 270 rwhp through a standard trans.

I bet the cobalt is more fun simply because it's a sleeper, and he gets more bites. I doubt anyone attempts to race him in his Z28 with those meats on them.

have been waiting for a lineup with a newer GT for a long time. I molested a stock 2002'ish stang before the tune so i knew it was time to stop it up to the new age body style
I've taken every SC Cobalt I've raced in my stock 02, and one stock turbo'd one. But I have a feeling the latter had a bad driver. It was from a stoplight(dig) as well and he spun. I am positive most stock Turbo'd ones would take me in a roll.

Those are fast little sleepers. Especially the 4 door version.

I bet the GT owner **** his pants.

And I love the slowbalt.

The fastest I've personally seen a stock 05+ was a 08 going 13.2 in the 1/4. But that's HARDLY the average. Most hit mid to upper mid 13s. I've heard they dyno at 270 to the wheels.

I could very well be wrong. The 05+ have more HP, but they are also heavier than the 99-04s I believe. Again, I could be wrong.

at yu guys teasin me
i used HARD cause he was on it and its funny to see a lil 4door pull around a mustang who stayed in out while i had to let off and get back on yet i still went around him.
if we went on 3, it would no doubt have been ugly for him.

I think you're correct on this. I pulled a little on a bolt-on 2003 GT with my G8 from a roll. I had 4 people in mine and he was by himself. I also raced a stock turbo Cobalt several times from a roll and it was a similar outcome, but we both had one passenger in those races.

G8s are bad-assed. I love those cars. No one expects them to be as fast as they are.
