Default ls1 LET DOWN

This cobalt ss ran up along side of me cruising at 70 mph and he looked at me "like whats up"?. I nailed the ls1 and he nailed that lil cobalt ss and blew by me and he kept pulln hard. I got on side of him after he slowed down and come to find out his ss is modified and turbo. He's pushing 420 hp in that lil thing. So after all, i didnt feel as bad.

The ls1 didn't let you down!! you just don't know who you racing, just because is a cobalt you spec to win!! That guy probably has 8k or more invested all forge internals and running 15+ lbs of boost to have and hold 420 hp!! if you want to play with the big boys is time to start modding!!

420 rwhp isn't too hard to make with an LS1. Cam and bolt-ons will do it if you go with a big enough bump stick. You were messing with FI. That's no joke. Stick a turbo on anything and that dog will hunt.

he didnt have 420hp with the stock turbo, my friend has a turbo cobalt and a couple weeks ago we put on a front mount intercooler to go with the charge pipe, down pipe, full 3" exhaust, and cai with a trifeca tune and he puts down 360hp and about 400tq. but if he has 5g in it he prolly has a upgraded turbo and is pushin more than 23psi my buddy is pushin 26 on the stock one. i think there damn good lookin cars if there done right and not ricered out, here is a pic of my buddies simple but super clean and fast

from a slow roll or a dig i will destroy him but from a 40 roll even if i already have it in second he will instantly put about a car on me and then hold it because his spark plugs are givin him problems right now cause he needs the one step colder ones it sputters and stops pullin about 5000 rpm, these things can be fast and he prolly has about as much in his car as i do mine $ wise.

Last I heard, the Turbo Cobalt's were easily able to get up to around 430-440whp, but after that there injectors run outta duty cycle and there fueling system is maxed out. And being that they are direct injection, you can't just slap a bigger set it! Something like 20,000psi or some such? But the engine/trans could easily handle that 440whp.

Anybody ever offer upgraded injectors/fuel system yet?

You have no ******* idea what you're talking about

The new DI Turbo Cobalts can do it with a turbo upgrade, bolt ons and tuning, period.

and with their weight they are going to drag a pretty quick car from a roll.

Getting them to hook is another thing, but it can be done just like we can get ours to hook.

Some common misconceptions in this thread, one the turbo cobalts boost 19psi stock.
And when people say they handle well they are understating that fact like non other, im not sure if it still holds the record but when it came out it held the world record for fastest fwd production car around the nurburgring. Many magazines (i hate quoting them but they have solid figures) have proven that the SS outhandles Z51 equipped C6 vettes., and on small to medium tracks avtually has quicker lap times.

Also it is not like drag slicks dont work on a car simply because a car is FWD.

However with the right street tire and launch control FWD can hook GREAT on the street.

My friends GT30 SRT-4 out launched me on the street with both of us having street tires with the above said combo.
