I was just defending my statement against Stopsign and even if the F-Body was produced in 03/04, the Cobra was in a higher class unless the F-Body was upgraded or another model was produced. Same thing now, the GT500 is a different class than the SS. It's cool, I see we were actually arguing the same point but through a misunderstanding. No harm done.

Yup, Ford has never put a good stock/wide tire on a Mustang. And they do this because I feel they know most serious people will change the wheels and tires anyways. So why not put a smaller tire on and sell the car for cheaper? Makes sense to me.

and i was speaking of a different 5.0.. this car made a 12.28 pass at 114, had the stock 2010 17's w/ drag radials, mods were only the Steeda CAI, and the Steeda tune, car is a 6spd, w/ 3.31 gears..if you read the posts, i asked him where he was at, weather, altitude etc.

Why do LS1 guys classify 03-04 as upper class pony car? They had no problem with it(A Cobra Mustang) before in the same class(98-99,01). Geeezzzzz..... BTW how does a horse become a snake??? Stupid name LOL.

I don't think anyone agrees with you. Highest class Mustang against highest class Camaro. Like said before, if the SS would outrun the GT500 you would be all about comparing the two. You are at the bottom of the food chain on this board. I give Manny more props than I give you. Atleast sometimes he makes sense.

This thread is about a 13 year old engine still holding it's own against a brand new mustang with brand new technology. I think both the LS1 and the new stang with the 5.0 should have major credit, LS1 for holding it's own after so many years. The new stang for finally making some decent power to give us GM guys some competition and want to make us mod our ****. Also, yes the new mustang should be compared with the new SS, but the new SS was made to heavy and that's not our fault. Ford finally took it after so long, they want to be on top of the food chain and it's doing it now with the new 5.0, ls1 is old technology(old *** push rod v8) but is still kicking some 5.0 ***. GM just needs to be smart about the camaro and put it on a diet. As for the new stang they managed to keep the same weight with more power, pretty smart of them, kinda like GM did with the fbod ls1's, added more HP with around the same weight as in the 90's, or maybe even less. I think my 3rd gen weighs more then my 4th. But anyway, can't we all just get along and smoke some rice?

Good luck getting a couple guys to realize that. Can't make one joking comment about a new 5.0 or say anything about it not being the be all end all best thing since the wheel without a couple Mustang faithful jumping to conclusions and all over you for no reason.

It is not stock NO MATTER how you cut it.. Whether the stock **** sucked/it is unsafe/it doesn't hook/it doesn't flow good/it doesn't have low enough gears/etc etc etc.. FOR EVERY PLATFORM!

So you're saying the GT500 is in the same class as the LS3 SS? Just cause it's a Mustang doesn't mean it's limited to competing with the Camaro. The GT500 is closer to the base model Vette(that's Chevy's top of the line whereas Ford uses more Mustang models). I bet you're also going to say the KR and SS Stang is also in same class and competing with the 30K SS right? You act like I care where I fit in as far as performance/respect goes on this board and you act like I care if I get props from you or not. And who are you to make such assumptions about someone you have never met before? Seems to me you are the one being disrespectful. Agreed with the GT500 vs Z28. As far as straight line speed goes, the 03/04 Cobras were a great matchup for the LS1 powered Vette while being cheaper.
