I've been looking for one a 305 m5 car. But the damn things are more expensive than a Vette of the same years around here. I have a line on a 91 m6 tpi vette I might go get......like I need another project...lol
They were not racing you. But as turdy as those v6 mustangs were I can see you thinking they were racing.
Notch had one like you're talking. He could just barely pull on my truck with the camper on it while towing a trailer with my RZR, 4wheeler and gear on it. I may have been able out run him but I had put it in 4x4 and forgot to take it out.
Sounds about right to me.
Something must have been up with the 5.3.
Read above....
I bet it would go faster with bias tires on it
All kidding aside....that would be over a 600lb difference in raceweight......9's??? Maybe

****, I'd give you 800 for it right now!
You think the 6.0 is bad check this out. Try 7 MPG and 10 MPG when not towing in the ford lololol
My work truck right now is an F250 SD with the 5.4. I can say that the 5.3 even is so much better at towing/mileage. The 6.0 would be even better than this thing.
I have to tow around manlift towers (about 6000 lbs) and light carts (About 4000 lbs) and the truck I had before this 03 silverado with the 5.3 towed better, and accelerated better
Its a tough truck and has taken the abuse I've thrown at it (its a govt vehicle so I drive it like I stole it) but there is definitely something wrong when a 1500 outperforms a 2500. My F250 is a 2008 BTW. It's nice, and does the job the transmission in this thing is bad ***, but the chevy was just all around a better truck.

I disagree with this towing report. I had a 2005 Chevy 1500 Z71 with the 5.3. Unloaded the truck was great, would average 21mpg. When I towed my boat the thing had no power at all. It would struggle to go up a bridge and my fuel milage would drop to 8mpg. Boat loaded down weighed in at around 6000lbs. I then purchased a new 2010 F-150 FX4 with the 5.4 motor in it. I sucked on fuel all the way around but it towed like a monster. Had no trouble pulling my boat and purchased a 35ft bumper pull camper that weighted in at about 10,000lbs unloaded. I pulled that camper 4 hours to my hunting lease at 70-75mph. Now I was at 3500rpm pretty much the entire time and I got like 4mpg but it towed it good. The chevy would have never towed that camper.
Ford and Dodge have always been known to be better tow rigs than Chevy and GMC. Not saying GM cannot tow just not to the level of the other 2 trucks.

Maybe there is something wrong with mine, it just doesn't feel like it tows as well as the Chevy. I wouldn't doubt it the heat here is brutal and it's a military used vehicle. It does the job, just sucks down gas like a ****.
Did you ever end up having to go to afghan?

They're **** and got thrashed by my 99 V6 stang, deal with it
305s should be used to make those engine-block coffee tables and camshaft lamps. I guaran-damn-tee they would get more use and praise that way.

Any of you guys interested in science-related stuff? Here's a cool "Scale" of the universe. Scroll left and right to expand or collapse, click any picture for a caption. Pretty educational besides a few grammatical errors, which are just bound to happen when you make something this thorough.

Quit racing pos 305 tbi cars then. The TPI cars ran leaps and bounds better. Granted they werent race cars, but high 8's in the 1/8th isnt horrid for something that came with 215hp from the factory.

I keep telling myself that I could build one nasty third gen with all the money I have in the Evo lol.

I don't care if you ran 4's in your 305, no offense. I'm talking about the fact that we ALL know for every 305 you see run well on the street, you see twenty 302s that run well. Better chassis? Yep 302 again with the Fox Mustang. Looks are subjective, of course.
This is coming from a guy (me) who greatly prefers 3rd gen looks to 4th gen looks, I respect them, but Hio's ignorance knows no bounds sometimes. I don't hate on third gens at ALL. I just won't sit and listen to people say the 305 was even in the same ballpark as a 302.
We had this discussion before and the best response from that side of the fence was to swap a 350 in I rested my case at that point.
As soon as I mentioned the aftermarket, a whole bunch of guys jumped in (mainly HiO) saying you could use factory SBC castings and make a 305 run well and that the 302 depends on the aftermarket, I say who gives a ****? Options are available whether they come from the tooth fairy or the OEM. Then I asked where all those factory-part builds were, just assuming they'd be crawling all over the street and it was...yet again...crickets.
That explanation is perfectly logical, too, by Hio's ridiculous arguing tactics because when the 4v Ford motor won the engine master's challenge (top 3 I believe), it was a whole bunch of "Yeah I'm sure all you Ford boys are gonna drop that in your Mustang, see them all over the place dontcha?!" sarcastically. Same with the fastest 4.6 mod motors.
The reason is that most people would rather jack off with napalm than sink money into a GM 305. For the people that do it and make them run well, I have a TON of respect for those guys because they are not the norm.

I wasnt arguing that, I just said they arent all total boat anchors. The GM 307 however? Boat anchor. I was replying mostly to the assrapings you were handing out in your high 15 second on a good day 99 v6 mustang. lol. Its all good man, I prefer the third gens over fox bodies personally. But if I had another one it would quickly have a boosted LS in it.

Best thing about my 307 was the noise it made with the breather lid flipped over and you could keep it floored for 40 seconds and not even reach the speed limit.
