2004 pbm GTO vs Ram air Trans am..
Long story short I noticed a blacked out trans am on the freeway yesterday evening driving home from work...lined them up from a sixty I let him get the jump and right away pulled 2 car lengths and backed off....next run lined up from a forty, gave him the jump again I pulled 2 to 2 and a half could have been more and backed off...good runs...pulled up next to him asked him what his mods are he replied he was an auto stock...although he did have a k&n sticker on his side window which we all know is good for 10hp... I was itching for a run, I thought it would b a lot closer..Guess these gto's aren't the fat pigs everybody says they r...

must have been a LT1? you just dont run quick enough to instantly pull 2 car lengths esp if he got the hit. from the 40 roll i could see it somewhat since he wouldnt have been able to downshift to 1st and would have been at the bottom of 2nd.

I agree tho something didnt feel right I know ls1 trans ams r no slouch....could have been a rebadged firebird?? The city I was driving threw is known to have quite a few muscle cars in its area..so if this is true shame on him...I doubt it though...who puts a trans am wing and badges on a firebird theyre both great cars but idk who'd do it...plus my gto is no slouch either..

Just so you know, it doesn't matter if it was a Formula, Trans Am, WS6 or Firehawk. Stock for stock, an LS1 is an LS1 (but you don't even know if it was, so...). Stock for stock, it just depends on the tranny (A4 or M6) and if it's an A4, whether or not it has the 2.73 or 3.23 option. M6 are standard stock with 3.42 gears.
It may of been an LT1. Who knows? You should know the difference by now, man!
And if it was an A4 as you say, maybe it was in a "dead" spot from the roll. Again, anything can happen on the street.
Good kill!

that sounds like murder, nothing good about those runs. pulling 2-2.5 cars when you are stock makes it sound like you're racing an sn95 auto car.
the gtos around here, for the most part, are slow as ****. not sure if it's the driver or the car, but even the m6/header ls2 cars struggle to trap 110.

I have a hard time believing an lt1 will hang with any ls1 gto mod for mod my friend had an lt1 camaro with bolt ons...i c them at the track run 14's to mid 13's on slicks all the time..like I said im no rookie driver...i run 13.2's on street tires in 90° weather in my ls1 goat...thats easy 12 on slicks and cooler weather prob not gonna happen in your lt1 just saying

Yeah thats what everybody says but seems to me alot of it is driver mod...ls1 camaros and trans ams are prob 300 pounds lighter than a gto...wow big difference, maybe 3 tenths slower..ive already shaved off an easy 100..I'll admitt though the stock gto tune is ****..i gained .5 and 5mph from my tune in the 1/4 mile with time slips to prove =D

LS1 Fbodies edge out LS1 GTO's. Stock for stock, mod for mod. It's all a LS2 GTO can do to simply match a LS1 Fbody. Weights a bitch, and the IRS doesn't exactly help straight line traction either.

I think my time slips prove other wise..like I said I travel to the track often and know what most ls1's are capable of..13.2's on street tires breaking loose in second= 12's with slicks....lets not forget the gto is rated at 350 hp and includes a z06 tranny unlike fbodies..i know exactly what I have and what im capable of..and have put many cars to shame with vids to prove so thank u sir..
