You must not be familiar with the Corvette, you know, GM's flagship car. The Camaro just gets whatever's leftover from it.
Gearing, unsprung weight, aerodynamics, just to name a few.
You shouldn't play stupid though, you know the 5th gen Camaro wasn't built around the engine, its just a shortened sedan chassis.

This is going to be one of the driving factors for GM to go DOHC.

Not for nothing... but... why dont we compare a picture with a roots blower on an LS with all its accessories on it to that cobra motor. We get it... its smaller... but its not as small as you guys make it look by comparing an accessoriless motor with just an intake manifold on it to an cobra motor with all its accessories and roots blower on it. Maybe that makes too much sense?
Don't look at the accessories then if that makes you happy. But a ps and alternator is not gonna change it much.
If can't look threw the accessories to see the actual size of the engine then you guys are lost anyway. The ******* valve cover of the modular is taller than the intake of the ls.
Like I told him, whether intentional (which I wouldn't put past him) or not, having all the pulleys, the power steering reservoir, and the alternator on the mod motor does make it look larger than it would were it just a bare longblock with the crank pulley like the LS7 is sitting. I understand that the LS7 had been there a while and the 4.6 had just come out of the car, but that doesn't change how the picture looks.
The Metco pulley I put on it is smaller than that cluster **** of a lower pulley ford had on it.
Oh I know how big they are in comparison to each other, I've pulled/helped pull both motors out of mine and my friend's cars. But they are working on getting the 4V packaging more efficient, hence why the new 5.0 is noticeably smaller than the DOHC 4.6. And now the weight between the LS3 and 5.0 is virtually identical. So they are getting a lot closer in physical dimensions.
Probably had Sheetz or Citgo gas in it like it always does. Ac was on, wipers wiping, there was some shitty music on and all.

Cool. But the LS3 as it sits in production cars now is ~415lbs. The Coyote is ~430lbs.

I can tell you the 5.0 modular in our Panoz Esperate's weighed 46xlb race dressed. 80lb more than the LS7 in the same form.
Anyone know how much weight the modular lost goin to the coyote?

Edit: And since we don't know exactly what they are talking about w/ quoted weight, all we can do is go off what they say the weight is. Unless you happen to have a Coyote motor hanging around.

I wonder why the GM guys aren't seen all over the place with Northstar engines? They make an assload of power... the 4.6 is capable of 500hp with very few mods and the stock bottom end is fine up to 800hp.
(Rhetorical... let it sink in.)
Probably has something to do with all of this yappin'... Extra parts=extra hassle.
Who needs extra hassle = NO ONE racing cars.
I say more power to you Ford guys. And if you want/need 128 valves clicking away at a zillion RPMS... FINE!

Do you really think that the 5.0 is (what looks to be) 4" taller than a BB Hemi at the top of the valve covers?
