Bolt on 5.0, beats 4th gen 427 stroker camaro SS

evan Irun14.2s here is the 302 in same config. The ls is a tiny tiny bit bigger than 302. It is what it is 4.6 is dimensionally a monster. But I don't see what it matters other that weight bias. The displacement is what counts.

Like I told him, whether intentional (which I wouldn't put past him) or not, having all the pulleys, the power steering reservoir, and the alternator on the mod motor does make it look larger than it would were it just a bare longblock with the crank pulley like the LS7 is sitting. I understand that the LS7 had been there a while and the 4.6 had just come out of the car, but that doesn't change how the picture looks.
Look at the size of those crazy *** heads... which has to happen when ya stick a couple of cams in there, but THAT looks to me where the size issue is coming from.
It ain't Hio's fault that Ford decided to quadruple down on cams and put 'em in the heads.

Oh I know how big they are in comparison to each other, I've pulled/helped pull both motors out of mine and my friend's cars. But they are working on getting the 4V packaging more efficient, hence why the new 5.0 is noticeably smaller than the DOHC 4.6. And now the weight between the LS3 and 5.0 is virtually identical. So they are getting a lot closer in physical dimensions.

Im not look what ford is doing and look at what chevy is doing with their new dohc gas sipping engine. I think GM is doing just fine with the simple push rod engine the Corvette still gives other cars in higher classes a run for its money hell the 13gt500 does as well...

kevin, you were picking his car apart. Aside from heat and wipers your car is closer than alot of ppls. You pick his apart when yours has senseless **** removed.I mean how much is it really gonna slow you down to have wipers and heat. < 1. Ive stuck up for you before with him. But why pick his apart if you have similar **** going on? And its hard to pick a race car apart for being a race car. You asked me if I thought it was a street car. And I described how its not. Like I said its closer than many others.
The difference is, I've never claimed it was a street car, let alone my DD.

If they're both going into cars where they will fit with no problem, the physical dimensions don't mean nearly as much as you make it seem. If I was picking an engine to swap into a car with limited engine bay space (S2000, FD RX7, etc), then of course I would probably do some sort of LSx engine. But whining about the mod motor being physically larger is a silly argument when we're talking about how efficiently an engine coverts the air/fuel being injected into horsepower.
You can mount the smaller engine lower in the chassis for a lower COG, and closer to the middle for better weight distribution.
Y'all are gonna be some cryin *** babies once GM converts to DOHC. lol
GM's been there, done that and have decided to go with the smaller, lighter and cheaper OHV setup. There have been a few write ups from GM engineers on the topic, ultimately they are able to make an overall lighter and smaller car (which in turn then performs better in every way) because of it.

This has got to be like the 10th time we've gone over this. Please read carefully and do not use this lame excuse again.

Not needed though.
Doubt that will happen.

This is going to be one of the driving factors for GM to go DOHC.
