Handy,

There were some nasty high compression, solid lifter, double hump headed 283s out there. My brother had one in a Chevelle that would haul ***. Since we already have a weight advantage, we should stay close to stock.

Looking forward to seeing a Vega in it or even a Sunbird.

Glass is probably right. My T5'a 2nd gear syncro is toast.

You do realize that the Ford T5 is pretty much the same as the GM T5?

Old school all the way. I put a $45 ebay holley on mine with a $27 84 Mustang GT dual plane intake and an old Duraspark ignition.

Solid lifters will rev to the moon.

I have a 468 block. Maybe I can swap it for a 283 short block.

Remember these are supposed to be true street driven cars, and not "street cars". Not a bunch of gutted junk because Sean and I aren't willing to destroy our cars.

And when it comes to the short block follow stock eliminator guidelines. No hogging out a 283 to make a 302.

Exactly, and if I see a video of someone's race car that they call a street car, I think we should be able to DQ them. The purpose is to have comfy stock cars that have motor work done to the stock short block. No gutting, nitrous, anything other than max 93 octane gas...the point isn't to find loopholes in this challenge.

Find an 82-83 fbody. They were the lightest. You could still use a 283.

The displacement isn't as big of a deal as the solid cam is. Solid cam grinds start radical and get nasty.
