Well the carrier is typically considered to also be the posi /locking unit only. Sounds like the set up on the gears were off.....possibly other **** going on like in cman's rear. That thing was all kinda fucked up. Took me a bit to figure out that amount of fuckery.

I wish i woulda figured it out for myself on my 9". I sent it out due to not having the time to do it and there was a bearing that was crossed wrong. But it's noisy, not terrible but bad enough i don't like it. That's what i get for not doing it myself.

My center is aluminum too. All for 2500😁. It came with a cm driveshaft and lca's. Was a good deal and even had the right gear for the bolt on ls6. The new engine will probably want nearly 1k more rpm so it might need a gear change. I was thinking 4.22s. Might just do 4.00 since i have a set of those.

My cam with 28” tall tires definitely wanted more than 4.30’s. It drives really nice now. Just waiting to get it back on the road after my throw out bearing failed and found out I was only using half of my clutch while disassembling everything. Nice twin disc McLeod. Over .0030 of runout from one side of the flywheel to the other. Picked up an adjustable slave cylinder while everything was apart.

My car loves the 4.56s. I have a buddy with a cam only ls1, 28" tires and 4.30 gear and the car is begging for more gear. Makes peak power close to 7000

that’s right where mine is peaking. 6,800 but carries to 7,3-7,400. Exact same boat as him. 4.30’s to 4.57’s changed its life.

it was fbo, and 2500 pounds lol. I would keep those 3.90 gears you have, these cars spin kinda bad on the street with a bunch of gear.

It runs almost 60mph by the end of 1st gear. It should turn somewhere in the 7400-7800 rpm area.

What these cars really need is the 2.9x gearset for first gear.......then make it have traction.

Ima move the battery to the back at some point. I did that to the mustang and it was a noticeable difference. Never ran it at the track like that for good data tho. But really helped on the street.

I run a 18x11 out back with a 315/40 NT05R. With my QA1’s dialed in it hooks pretty hard with 4.57’s. My car doesn’t come off the cam till 2500rpm so it needed 4.57’s for better drivability alone. Added performance is just a bonus at this point.

Relocating that jet ski battery should definitely help things in your max effort race car.

I still have the 10 bolt in mine… been lucky I guess. Original one lasted to nearly 200k, I’m not sure I love the 3.90s though… kind of miss the stupid long gearing and gas mileage from the 3.42s.

I know there's a lot of Florida peeps in here, who's in for a Drag Week style event in FL?!

I hope this happens, I ran Drag Week 2019 with Tom Bailey and he is the man!

My oil pump broke in a few pieces, when I was at 6000 rpm, I went from 80+ psi, down to 0, I hope I caught it in time.

so far so good, I just put 20 miles on it, with no issues, knock on wood. If it makes it 100 miles I will be less nervous.
